Don Broadhurst - Another win for the Commonwealth Champ

Just been watching the Friday Fight Night coverage earlier on, Don Broadhurst retained his Commonwealth title, beating his third Ghanaian on the bounce, but not without a bit of bother.

Broadhurst was boxing fairly well early on, but getting clipped, then right at the end of the first was caught retreating with his hands down by his opponent Asamoah Wilson. Wilson wasn't exactly a classy boxer, but threw and agricultural wide left hook which caught Broadhurst right on the nose, and he was bleeding badly going back to the corner.

Broadhurst did well for the second, but got clipped again which sent the blood flowing again, and made a real mess of his face, but he boxed well, and was rarely getting clipped. He was having a few breathing problems, but from the third onwards the bleeding eased, and he boxed well before he finished it in the sixth with a few good flurries of flush punches had Wilson reeling, and his corner rightly threw in the towel.

Broadhurst showed he had some grit tonight, coming through a nasty bloody nose, and he finished it calmly when the opportunity came. Not sure he'll go much further than domestic, but they did mention a possible unification with the British Super-flyweight champion Lee Haskins. He's got promise, and talks big, but we might learn something between him and Haskins I reckon. He's got the pedigree, but we need to see how he does mixing in a higher level.

I like the kid alot ,last night was the least impressive I've seen of him but he sucked it up gainst a tough old boot and he'll learn alot from it !

I love his balance and the way he changes angles superb young fighter got a lot to look forward too .

The other Guy was a Novice, I was Dissapointed. Got Hit to much at that Level.

Broadhurst was 66/1 on for funks sake. The Ghanaian looked like he was shitting himself before the start. When he started boxing it was apparent why.
