Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
roach is a great trainer no doubt and he totally got it right Saturday Night. I tipped Hatton to win because I thought the De La Hoya result might have flattered Pacman slightly. I wasnt sure how Manny would cope against a fully strong 140 pounder. Its a nice thought but I would be surprised if he fought again. that was a crushing defeat against a man who even before the fight was a guaranteed hall of famer. I just hope Ricky decides to retire now with the money he has earned and his health intact. good look to manny in the future. hope he can get the mayweather/marquez winner. hes a credit to the game and his nation should be proud of him :)

BIGGEST MISTAKE IS GETTING FLOYD "THE JOKE COACH" MAYWEATHER SR. :rolleyes:ON YOUR SIDE!!! YOU ARE A GREAT GUY THAT NEEDS PROPER GUIDANCE FROM A GREAT TRAINNER?.. YOU SEE YOUR STYLE USE TO BE PAC'S STYLE WHEN HE FIRST STARTED AND HE CAME TO DEVELOP,IMPROVED IT MORE EFFECTIVE WITH ROACH FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS...
HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED DOIN WHAT AMIR KHAN DID IN JOINING FREDDIE ROACH'S TEAM?... I THINK ITS NOT A BAD IDEA AND I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD MIND....;) GREAT RESPECT FOR YOU FOR RESPECTING PACMAN AND THE 2 OF YOU GET ALONG QUITE WELL! BOTH HUMBLE GREAT GUYS...:) IF EVER YOU BECOME PART OF TEAM OF COURSE FAMILY IS FAMILY, BUT THERE'S STILL MARQUEZ,MAYWEATHER,COTTO,AND OTHERS TO BEAT BEFORE YOU RETIRE? WITH EXCEPTION TO YOUR TEAM OF COURSE... COZ I KNOW AFTER PAC'S FIGHT W/WHO EVER WINS AGAINST FMJR VS JMM HIS GOIN TO RETIRE FOR GOOD!:) MAYBE THATS GOIN TO BE YOUR TIME TO BE BESTP4P I THINK YOU COULD DO IT W/ FREDDIES HELP!!:) AND AFTER YOU RETIRE ITS AMIR'S;D ......CHEERS AND GOOD LUCK!
...HOPE YOU'LL MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION NEXT TIME..;) LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS GOOD FOR YOU?;)
Is that some sort of joke? I must have missed that:headscratch: I was rooting for Ricky but the only good fighting I saw was him fighting his way off the floor. That wasn't a fight it was sanctioned homicide.
I'd like him to retire but good luck if he doesn't. Give him any trainer in the world and it won't matter, that kind of thing will ruin a fighter. I don't want to see him get hurt{again}. Teach an old dog new tricks but don't expect him to do them for you at the drop of a dime.
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Pacman 23s option...turn off caps lock ;D
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Ricky shouldn't go out like that...he still has PLENTY of options and he still draws crowds in England I am sure....how about Junior Witter in England??? How about Demetrius Hopkins??? Timothy Bradley, Kendall Holt, there are a number of guys Ricky could fight and more than likely beat. Put Ricky in with Ricardo Torres and you'd have yourself a fight of the year candidate!!!
I don't think Ricky's chin will ever be the same though...a shot like that can affect you physically and mentally
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Ricky may well be physicaly capable of fighting again but im not sure how his chin will hold up and I bet he wont be either, he will fight gunshy.
It would take a good few easy fights to restore Rickys confidence.
Maybe Roach should train him, prove how good a trainer he is by rebuilding Ricky;)
I watched the fight again and apart from Mannys speed he does nothing great, his speed is awesome though, in the second all he did was try to line up a big over hand left, I counted about 7 before the big one connected, now that really is Rickys fault, quite a basic punch to avoid, he must have felt them before the knockout and known what Manny was trying to do but I think Ricky is quite arrogant in beleiving hes so much stronger than his opponents.
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
QUIT FOOKIN YELLING !!!!!111!!!one!!
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Manny is hard to time, he's got great speed, great power, and his ability to use angles is great. Let's not short sell Manny.....although it was easier for Manny to win because Ricky DIDN'T use angles
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
I know Ricky could fight on and still win fights but do you think the world will care?
I mean he's been exposed badly when he's stepped up in class I can't imagine HBO or Showtime salivating at the thought of matching him most of the current 140 lb lot.
I'd say a fight with Tim Bradley would be his only option of keeping stateside interest.
I doubt he would ever fight Witter under any circumstance and even if he did its not a fight the rest of the world outside England would care about.
Ricky is used to the big stage now and being a world attraction and PPV star, his options in that regard have diminished significantly.
I really think a fight with Tim Bradley is the only fight that would sell in America, and the angle would be all on Bradley and people wanting to see how good he is.
When you've stepped up twice and failed does anybody really care to you see try and step up and fail again?
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Why does he need to be popular stateside??? He's popular in the UK, he can fight in Europe and still be somebody.
Ricky lost to 2 top P4P fighters, there is no shame in that...I don't know why everyone wants him to retire so fast.

Ask Zab Judah lol
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
I think it's time for Ricky to retire.
It looks to me in his last couple of fights as though his punch resistance has just left him. He is fallling all over the place anytime anything touches his chin.
He should leave with his faculty's in order and enjoy the millions he has earned.Rather than come back and lose another fight. At the moment his two losses came against the recognised p4p best fighters in the world.
Last think he needs is a loss to a regular belt holder.

Because Ricky had dreams of greatness. He's already proven himself the best at domestic level, he's become THE man at junior welterweight twice.
Now he's been exposed humiliatingly in both his step up fights what is left for him?
Is he going to want to go back and try and win a world title at 140 lbs against 'decent' oppostion for the fifth time?
What can he achieve now that he hasn't already done? He lost so emphatically both times he stepped up that nobody is going to want to see him fight either Pacquaio and Floyd again.
He won't fight Junior Witter, and probably not Amir Khan so the only fight of interest is Tim Bradley, presuming Bradley wants him.
I guess its possible Marquez may want him if he loses to Floyd as expected but that's it.
Nate Campbell and Juan Diaz maybe? Would these excite Hatton or the public? A guy like Hatton who has lost twice against his best opposition and been KO'd both times or a 36 year old veteran who doesn't even hold at belt.
I think if he stays around he's merely a 'gatekeeper for greatness' offering Tim Bradley the chance to become a big name and JM Marquez the chance to score a big comeback win after his likely loss to Floyd, although unless Hatton had a world title Valero and Bradley look a whole lot more appealing for him.
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
He should wait till Amir Khan wins his world title shot, and then get a mega fight with Amir at wembley and retire after knocking his ass out in front of his loyal fans. Great way to go out IMO ;D
Re: Ricky's Comeback Option
Ricky needs to retire! all the best at 140 beat him, he's a one dimensional fighter in actuality and just like Zab is a front runner. the fact is Hatton is slightly above average but nothing more and never will be.
