Ricky Hatton what was you thinking
He came out from the first bell like a bull at a gate no jab no head movement weren't even thinking what he was doing. When he fought Paulie he had head movement he was working behind his jab he was staying composed he was catching Paulie's jab then in this fight he fights basically like a novice like somebody having a brawl outside of a pub. I thought in this fight he would fight even better than in the Paulie fight but how i was wrong now alot are blaming Floyd Snr but the only man to blame for this loss is Ricky Hatton after the 1st round that should have been his wake up call to compose himself and go back to boxing for a few rounds use the jab and for god sake move his head. he went back to the corner after the 1st having been dropped twice was told by Floyd Snr to use the jab move your head and basically stop relying on power. Ricky left the corner threw a few half hearted jabs that didnt even connect then going hook crazy again he did hurt Pac a little twice but nothing serious and Hatton did move his head abit but then he basically threw his chin at full force on to Pacs hook and that was the end of that he was stretched out for several minutes. Now i hope Ricky is ok and i really hope he retires he has achieved enough in the sport being Number 1 light welterweight for nearly 4 years and winning a world title at welterweight also he has given alot to his fans but now i think its time to think of his health and retire it was horrible seeing him lay on the canvas motionless like that i just hope he retires as do many others.
Re: Ricky Hatton what was you thinking
Ricky doesn't have the style to fight for self preservation. He NEVER had great head movement he has a very stiff upper body and never suffered because of it until someone with faster hands than himself was able to catch him.
Seems to me Ricky thought he was just going to overpower Manny, but he didn't count on Manny carrying his power up the way he has been able to. I've done the same thing in sparring, I sparred a light heavyweight and allowed him to hit me thinking "He's too light to hurt me"...I didn't get knocked out or knocked down but in hindsight it's never a good thing to set defense to the side.
Ricky has some fight left in him, but he needs STRATEGY which like every other pressure fighter he never really seemed to use. He needs to take a page out of Arturo Gatti's handbook and learn to box.
