Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
I'm not sure really, I had kind of drifted away from boxing at the time of ODLH/Trinidad so I wasn't paying attention then, but I can't think of anything bigger since.
I've been kind of amazed at how much buzz Pacquaio/Hatton got, I've heard about it from people that are very casual fans, it was all over ESPN (if they could have only showed the knockout) for days, on Sportscenter, PTI, even Paul Pierce mentioned it on one interview.
I guess I didn't realize what a bump Manny got from the ODLH fight and then to follow that with the most dominating performance in an elite fight in ages with a spectacular knockout, he's big now. Lets face it Manny is a casual fans dream, all excitement.
So these two are now by far the two biggest names in the sport in America. This will be absolutely gigantic. Biggest moment for boxing in ages.
Re: Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
If Pac was fighting Mundine it would be much bigger over here.. LOL... I didn't even see a replay of the knockout on our news of Hatton...
But yeah, that would be a pretty big fight....
It's really hard to top DLH vs PBF though... That was pretty huge...
Imagine if Pac had a big fat zero on his record.. Man that would almost be a world stopper if him and PBF met unbeaten.... It's still going to be huge...
The leaded up and how it's managed/promoted will tell if it can top DLH vs PBF...
Re: Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
It wouldn't surprise me to see more promoters like Don King or some other money grubbing attention hungry whore like Donald Trumps sticking their nose into the promotion of a Pacquiao/Mayweather bout. It has the potential to be the biggest watched and hyped fight in history.
I can just see Mayweather eyes getting bigger....

Biggest fight since Lewis v Tyson
Re: Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
true, I forgot about that one.
Re: Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
Floyd-Manny would be hollywoodish type of event like DLH-Trinidad fight.

I agree. It might be the biggest since Leonard/Hearns - I could see A LOT of people talking about Pac & Floyd!
Re: Floyd-Manny would be the biggest fight since...
In terms of the quality of the fights and importance of the fight for the history of the sport I think this fight is more Ali-Frazier I/Duran-leonard then Trinidad-De La Hoya. I mean whoever wins this fight flies up the p4p ATG chart, and this will be a fight that matches the two best fighters in one ring since Leonard-Duran.

I am thinking that Golden Boy wanted Floyd Sr to train Hatton to keep the Mayweather name recognition.
Either way the winner was gonna fight PBF so keep that Mayweather name current, and it will hype the fight more.

He's fighting Marquez who is part of GBP, but I don't think people will forget Mayweather. When Mayweather-Marquez was announced it sort of eclipsed the Pacquiao-Hatton fight in a lot of ways.
