Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
This article quoting Ray Hatton says Ricky shouldn't have fought
Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Dad - Ricky shouldn't have fought
I'm getting tired of this attempt to shift blame onto Floyd Mayweather Sr, everyone heard him telling Ricky what to do, and Ricky didn't do it. They did this after his defeat to Mayweather, claiming it was all down to Cortez & the weight, now its all the trainer's fault. I actually thought Ricky fought fairly well in the Mayweather fight & was just outclassed, but this time he was abysmal. I can understand his Dad making excuses but that Gareth Williams guy really pisses me off. These guys should of stopped Ricky doing TV shows at 11PM the night before the fight and had him resting rather than blaming it all on someone else again
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Set of Fannys.
I like Hatton but the people around him do my head in. I've heard a rumour from someone who supposedly has a bit of inside info that Hatton is going to refuse to pay Mayweather Sr due to him hardly being at training.
Should just accept that he got chinned. Would have happened to anybody who'd have come at Pac like that with no head movement or guard.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Ray Hatton is such a cringworthy funker.
Ricky went through with the fight because he wouldn't let the fans down.. it has nothing to do with Ricky's MASSIVE payday then?
:beat:

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
absoloute crap
If hatton was SOOO disheartened by the way the training camp was going why the hell didnt he alter things late on rather than tell us all on a day to day basis how he was in the shape of his life thanks to the way training had been going??
Oscar had a very valid reason for underperforming against manny but still to this day has chose not to disclose too many details of what we all pretty much know was something that went horribly wrong in the 24 hours between the weigh in and the fight.
This however is just sourgrapes from hatton snr and a very poor showing if you ask me!!
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
not even gonna read it the title tells me all i need to know....

Now, Now, don't be cynical, after all he fights in Vegas cos it's cheaper there for the fans than to go to the MEN.
I don't think they realise that these excuses make them look worse, they were happy enough with Floyd after the Paulie fight.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
One of these days, the Hatton family will come to grips with reality and figure out that Ricky is a good fighter who will never beat a Floyd/Pac level fighter, even on his best day.
Enough with the excuses already.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
'Ricky made a mistake and got caught. I think to a large extent he was let down by people around him,' he added. 'But we’re not going to start making excuses or trying to divert blame because that’s not the way we are.'

Isn't that exactly what they are doing? Wankers.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
He fought he lost. Case closed. The record books and bank acct's don't care how or why and neither do I. Before the fight and all over 24/7 hatton was fine, crackin jokes, playin darts, wearing thongs, now all of the sudden he was sick, he was tired, the lights were in his eyes, the popcorn guy flicked salt in his gloves, floyd sr set his watch wrong, they all had swine flu.....any others i missed ???? Geeeeez people give it a rest already.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Maybe Ricky would have lasted a few more rounds if he had a better trainer but that is about it.
I do think Floyd Sr is a classless POS and I hope everyone can see what happened in Hattons camp and does not use him.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
I've never understood why people make excuses all the while saying they're not making excuses, take nothing away from the other guy's performance, etc.
Just make your excuses, say he could have been better if he had a different trainer, didn't have injuries, weight problems, sock issues, training camps burning down. He would have been better if he had both of his hands, but take nothing away from the other guy.

I'm a big Hatton fan but I do agree he shouldn't have fought. Not because of the camp, but because even on his best day, I saw no way he was gunna beat Manny Pacquiao. Quit with the excuses, its just putting Ricky in a bad light.
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
What was the excuse? Heard the interview by his dad on Setanta and was waiting for him to say why he should not have fought and he talked like a politician and said nothing concrete.
