Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
From Dan Rafael:
825,000 domestic pay-per-view buys with the likelihood that when they're all counted, the total will reach 850,000 or more.
That means the fight generated almost $50 million from the American pay-per-view, a huge number that doesn't even take into account the pay-per-view figures from Hatton's turf in the United Kingdom, where the fight easily could have done 1 million buys. Nor does it take into account the live gate of $8,832,950 or the closed-circuit ticket sales of $575,750 in Las Vegas alone. There's also a pile of cash from the rest of the closed-circuit and international television sales, a seven-figure license fee from HBO for the delayed broadcast rights, sponsorship money and merchandise revenue.
Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton PPV numbers something to celebrate, even if Bob Arum refuses - ESPN
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
Roughly the same as Floyd-Hatton?
For two foreigners - especially at 140 - that is clearly awesome numbers.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
I think this is good news for a potential Floyd-Pac fight.
If Pac-Hatton had blown away the PPV numbers for Floyd-Hatton, then Arum would have had grounds to demand much more than a 50/50 split against Floyd, and there's NO way Floyd would have agreed to that.
Since Pac-Hatton drew a little less than Floyd-Hatton, it could bring a little more sanity to a Floyd-Pac negotiation.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
Probably about 75,000 less than Floyd-Hatton, although I don't think it did as well in the UK as that one did over here. Still shows boxing is a long way from dead if two non-US fighters can pull in those numbers, especially when you consider how many people watch streams as well.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
Looks like a lot of people saw Hatton get knocked the fukk out
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
Good find I've been looking for this one.
I wonder if there is a statistic to determine how many PPV sales are lost due to live streams? I suppose they could just use the live stream hit numbers but then it would be unjustly high, but it still might be in the neighborhood of Mayweather/Dela Hoya in terms of views. If I were a promoter I'd look into putting the fight on podcasts and the like.
One other thing not being mentioned as far as the numbers go. Is the number of viewer watching in the Philippines. I read an article that said the fight was broadcast live in all the movie theaters ($10-$20 per head) and were sold out while free television was a delayed broadcast.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
good news for boxing that 8)
Manny-Hatton apparently did about 825, 000 PPV buys
per Dan Rafeal on ESPN, and that's just domestic, not looking at the British buys.
Manny is obviously a star now, that's the largest amount of buys not including Tyson, Holyfield or ODLH except for Floyd-Hatton which did 915 in a better economy.
Floyd-Manny, if Floyd gets by JMM obviously, would be ridiculously big. And it should be a 50/50 split although obviously they'll haggle for a while.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
Well, at least some good came out of the fight. Two non Americans and they are not Heavyweights in a horrible economy made about 825,000. That's dam good. All the Boxing haters that same "Boxing is dead" can suck it because they are DEAD wrong. Boxing has never been healthy!

so much for recession and global crisis.
Re: Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers
It is easy to cough it up for the worthy, nearly did not mind a few things missing from the cupboard, until some grumblings suggested to the contrary! Anyway...
One displayed skills and tenacity, while the other showcased courage and true grit! The anticipatory result to the fan of any persuasion, was secondary to the guaranteed excitement it brought forth. An anti-suckage ingredient indeed!

Than turn the volume down. I mean it's not like you don't know all the lines by memory anyway.

I think the fact there is a recession, did the PPV buys a favour i mean people are struggling to go out and spend money on drinking etc etc, so why not have a few friends round chip in and watch a massive boxing fight on PPV for a lesser amount.
