Miguel Cotto Willing To Face Pacquiao at 144-Pounds

According to Michael Koncz, adviser to Manny Pacquiao, WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is willing to fight Manny at a catch-weight of 144-pounds. Top Rank promotes both fighters and would love to match them at the end of year - if Cotto is able to get past Joshua Clottey on June 13 at New York's Madison Square Garden.
The weight appears to be the big issue for the fight. While Cotto is willing to drop to 144, Pacquiao may demand a weight limit of 142. It's tough enough to see Cotto make 144, and it's even harder to see him get down to 142. Pacquiao plans to sit ringside for Cotto's fight with Clottey.
“It’s really up to Manny at what weight he’d like to fight Cotto, if at all,” said Koncz to The Philippine Star. “We are told Cotto is agreeable to fight at a catchweight limit of 144. Manny might want to bring it down to 142."
"Manny’s comfortable where he is right now, fighting as a light welterweight. Why should he agree to what Cotto wants? If Cotto wants to fight Manny, it should be at Manny’s terms. This fight would mean more to Cotto than to Manny. If a limit of 142 is agreed, let Cotto struggle to make weight, not Manny.”

mmmm strange? I thought Cotto was struggling to make 140lb? i believe 147lb is also a stretch, so he wants to fight Pac at 144? I guess for that kind of money i would skip a meal or two.

I hope it's not just a money decision and he can actually make the weight.

whatever this guy is saying, according to boxingscene, Cotto says that he won't go under 145 pounds.
