Jump Rope for Fat reduction??
Hi fellas i m new to this forum..I have heard somebody sayin that Boxing is 90% conditioning..All my body parts(bis tris)r getin into muscula shape except my fat belly.. I was doin burpees for my cardio and was unable to see any differences although i was maintainin some strict diet.I haveseen many boxers performin skippin as a part of their workout and i have personally seen my stamina level increased due to skipping..
wat i wanna know is how does rope jumping help in fat reduction and ifso please give me a beginners routine using rope jumping for my cardio??
And i did a skipping workout told by Ross(1min round with 30 secs rest timeb/w sets)and the next day i was feelin the pain in my traps..Would adding pushups in between this workout could b a beter cardio??Sorry since this is a long post kindly bear wid me and clarify my doubts...;D;D

If you want to lower your body fat, cut down about 400 calories on what you would normally consume. Lift weights which helps to burn fat, and do compound movements like Squats, Deadlifts, ETC. And i'd also recommend doing cardio right after lifting weights.
Also have you ever tried HIIT ? High Intensity Interval Training ? heres little article on it. It will explain it better than i can and that will help you shift the bodyfat off it worked for me.

just go for jogs.. building muscle is obviously an essential part of the process, and the more muscle you build, the easier and more efficiently you will burn calories.. go for a 3-4 miles run 2-3 times a week.. or maybe a mile or two a day or every other day..
losing weight is the easiest thing in the world.. there is no secret to it.. burn calories.. eat less calories.. you just have to put the time in.
jumping rope of course would help burn calories, just like lifting weights, doing pushups etc..
the way you burn the most fat and calories is figuring out your target heart rate (which you can look up online to figure out how to do) and jog/run at that intensity for a good amount of time.. that would be the easiest and most efficient way to burn the most calories possible in one time period.

Dont limit yourself to jumping rope. There is a huge variaty of exercises (my favorite being burpees) that you can incoperate. Just remember to put forth maximum intensity.

Ya i too was a big fan of burpees but it bord me a lot thats y i switched to skipping rope...Sure i wil put maximum intensity...

There are some good books on jumping rope. I liked Buddy Lee's book, he has a lot of good ideas on the subject, such as training and showing different techniques/tricks.
While you're at it, check out the dvd RopeSport. I was able to get a copy through my library system, it runs through proper technique, different tricks, and it's easy on the eyes as some of it is demonstrated by Kelly Packard, that's the baywatch chick you probably see on every Ripley's Believe it or not. Good stuff, it's definetly worth looking into.
There are also plenty of different interval schemes that you can apply to skipping rope. "Maximum intensity" is somewhat subjective, usually meaning near maximum effort. If you're training for that I recommend a heart rate monitor to keep track of your intensity. You might alternate between bursts of high intensity (85-95 % of your max heart rate) and resting phase in which to bring your heart rate down. I think that it'd be wise to factor in the time that it takes for your heart rate to slow down to 65-70% of your MHR. I believe that heart rate to be an indicator of fatigue, and with proper caution you can prevent overtraining that can result from HIIT, Tabatas, or what may be too much too soon. I'll expound this concept later, and post what I have on this subject.
Once you have a good way of going about it, consistency will be among the most important things you'll need in order to burn the fat. You don't need to do it on a regular basis, but come up a plan of doing regularly every week so that it's not competing with other exercises, and your schedule for that matter.
