Retired Pro boxers!!
Hi there folks.Just read today that there is talk on having a Boxing Pension Scheme were pasted and retired professional boxers invest in their own purse so that when there come out of the game after thrilling us fans with great fights their can reap the rewards from the pension scheme and live a comfortable life after their hang up their gloves.
About time if think,sounds a neat idea!!
What do you guys think about a Pro Boxer Pension??

There has been talk, that about sums it up, talk. They need to do this already and have it mandatory every state. The problem is the fighters that bring in more gate get more taken out of there cash as a whole compared to club fighters. Both take the same risks though.

It's worth considering, but there are complications. I think it would mean that at least some of the funding will come from the boxer's own income, right? Someone's got to foot the bill. So it's one thing to make it mandatory, but some boxers may object to being forced to pay into such a scheme. Another consideration is that Joe Journeyman boxer who probably needs such a pension the most will probably be the guy who pays the least into the plan.
As a sideline, Gerry Cooney has been doing some very good work in helping down and out retired boxers find meaningful employment.
