Is Haye - Wlad off because of Setanta?
I've just come back from a long holiday where I had little to no contact with much that has been going on and even though I knew Haye - Wlad was off, I wasn't sure why. I've just found out that it is supposedly a back injury Haye has picked up, but someone has pointed out that David was only due the money off Setanta and with them struggling to fork out the £30 million they owe the premier league by tomorrow how would they have paid Haye? Surely this must have caused some problems for Haye as at the end of the day he is going in against someone that the bookmakers were not giving him much chance against and if he wasn't guaranteed his cash then this sounds more likely IMO.
I haven't had chance yet to look for other people on here's views so please let me know what you know or think on this!

The way promotions work, the TV companies who get the rights to show the fight have to pay the fee into an escrow account which then pays out to the promotion after the fight or returns the money to the TV companies if the fight doesn't happen.
Here's the most compelling piece of evidence I've seen to show that Setanta pulling out had nothing to do with it --Frank Warren's weekly article. :)
Frank obviously does other promoters and non-Warren fighters down every chance he gets, and here's what he said :
"It’s been rumoured that Haye asked for his seven-figure payment to be made before he stepped in the ring, but Setanta refused."
Now he's hiding behind "rumours" to start with, and the rumour he's claiming he heard is that Haye asked Setanta to pay him before the contest, in other words to scrap the existing agreement and allow the escrow account to pay him the money before the fight happened. But the escrow account is legally bound to pay Haye anyway so there's no reason for Haye to have asked for the early payment and no risk that he wouldn't be paid as the money was no longer under Setanta's control. If this is the best Warren can do to make a case that it was money worries that caused the fight to be cancelled then it's clear that it wasn't money worries at all.

So is it the injury then? I know he asked Wlad to postpone 3 weeks which seems quite short for a back injury!

I don't care what the reason is, it's just suspicious that a guy who talked so much shit, delayed the fight multiple times only for him to end up "injured" from a shaddow boxing incident.

Right so after he went to all the trouble of finally getting the fight he didn't want it?

It seems as if all David Haye wanted in the end was the publicity. Setanta went bust, 3 weeks is very short for any serious back injury and too long for a muscle pull, and even Haye's trainer said David would only be ready by July 25, so had Wladimir agreed to delay the fight 3 weeks it is 100% certain that he would have had to delay it further for David to be in top shape...according to his trainer.
Just seems a little odd to me, I personally don't rate Haye close to where his hype is, but it seems as if there are a lot of Brits who really love the guy and that's wonderful and everything but these were the same fans saying that Wladimir wasn't ready for Lennox Lewis and just looking at the actual FACTS Wlad had 40 fights, 39 wins, 1 loss, and was a Gold Medalist int he Olympics....now compare David Haye's resume to that. David Haye isn't ready, it's better for him to not have this fight anyway.....although he's going to lose soon enough, if he decides to ever fight again.
