in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
if this two both engage in a slug fest who will emerge as the victor? if they throw the word "outbox the other guy" off the window? that'll be exciting knowing these guys also engage in a slugfest and both have ko power.
will pac's natural talent (foot and hand speed with power) plus newfound ring smarts under roach's tutelage help him?
or cotto's welter weight power, compactness, finding angles (including the body shot), boxing ingeniuosity and durability to absorb a punch (from a guy coming up and described by some as having a natural superfeatherweight build) help him win?
who? pac or cotto? and why?
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
Slugfest with defense involved(evading shots/blocking) I'd say PAC because of his speed and explosiveness. PAC will land first and land more.:)
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
I am not saying 100% PAC wins the upcoming fight though, just a hunch:)

imo who gets the first pull of the trigger is the key to winning this fight. in boxing there is the term: "speed kills."
cotto have good hand speed but compared to pac, of course pac is faster. only problem is: can he hurt cotto? he did hurt hoya and hatton, but hoya was reluctant to trade punches. hatton did trade with pac but compared to cotto, cotto has the better defense and boxing skills to parry and find openings.
and about defense cotto did say that the only way to beat pac is to mix offense with defense and the example he gave was em vs pac 1 and 2. which makes me wonder: will he trade with him while defending by parrying some of pac's shots?
well i guess so.
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
Well, Cotto is the stronger puncher, but as we have seen in recent fights that really hasn't come into play since Pacquiao is very fast. So, I would have to go with Pacquiao. :vd::alcoholic::cwm10::bawling::shakehead: :furious:

100% Agreed!!!
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?

Dela Hoya reluctant to trade punches? What fight did you watch.... That is exactly what he wanted to do! DLH couldn't catch Pacquiao.
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
SLUGFEST?
I might go with Cotto. Pacquiao can't go toe-to-toe.
Best for Pac is to do his in-and-out thingie.
But a slugfest from time to time would be fan friendly, isn't it? ;) Isn't that why we watch Pac fights?
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
cotto is bigger and stronger, a slugfest would only benefit cotto. pac has to be elusive murder him with many punches and make cotto miss.
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter but people are still overrating him, do people honestly think he could stand toe to toe with Miguel Cotto and win ? seriously ?
I mean if this fight was discussed in early 2008 no one would have even, given Manny Pacquiao a chance let alone being able to stand, toe to toe with a big/strong guy like Miguel Cotto and win.
Manny Pacquiao will use his speed to beat Miguel Cotto to the punch, his footwork his also faster. Where as Miguel Cotto hasn't really got fast feet IMO, so that will be the problem with Manny Pacquiao moving in and out.
But will Manny Pacquiao be able to withstand those body shots and the pressure, of Miguel Cotto ? because this isn't Ricky Hatton or a weight drained ODLH he is fighting here.
Re: in a slugfest who wins: pac or cotto?
They said the same thing with Hatton when he fought Pac. "Bigger and Stronger".

well after finding out he can't catch pac he gave up and became reluctant. watch round 7-8. that's where he was reluctant like i said. same fight you've watched otherwise you're on the other dimension...
