Re: training guidence
The main thing is consistency and progress. You get into into the habit routine of going to the gym, and then you start adding things that you do on your own time, ie. running, stretching, etc. As for progress is concerned, boxing is a mental sport and requires your mind to be on the job throughout training and even when you're not. You think about what you're doing, ask yourself why you're doing it, find out the right reasons and constantly seek to improve at it.
If you want to get in better shape, you'll be on your way when you step into a gym.
Besides, what are your goals? Do you just want to get in shape, have some amateur fights, or do you want to become a pro. If you want to become a decent pro, your best bet would probably be to find a good professional gym, and learn the craft in the ring. This way you're getting quality sparring, and as you improve you can upgrade that level of sparring.
