Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
There's not much footage of him as a welterweight at all which was considered by most to be his most natural weight class.
anyway I noticed it somewhere else, its not great quality but pretty rare.

It's been said that almost all of SRR fights when he was in his prime was lost, so this is truly rare indeed.

All old footage looks faster than reality, I'm not sure if cameras filmed at a higher rate of frames per second in those day but they were faster.
I have spent ages trying to find SRR's early fights, years in fact. I keep hoping they will find some old reels in some broadcasting company's cellar or some shit.

Do you think their could be more SSR fights that were recorded that aren't readily available?? I guess that most of his later fights would have been filmed at least....
There should be a boxing archives company set up to gather up all that sort of stuff...
Re: Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
The quality doesn't matter because Ray always shined and thanks for the great find I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely awesome, the guy was amazing beyond belief, that's why as great as Leonard or Mosley are, there will only ever really be one Sugar
Re: Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
Not too mention the Ray Robinson we all seen footage of was when he was older and slowing down. I couldn't imagine a prime Sugar Ray it would be unreal.
Re: Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
Wow! Many thanks for the footage, mate.
Re: Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
Wow that style looks so ahead of its time
Re: Footage of Sugar Ray Robinson as a welterweight
I personally haven't seen Robinson's fights when he was at his peak and I guess many people haven't seen them either.
I'm wondering if somebody here has seen his fights. Many are considering him the greatest ever but I really can't say it with conviction as I haven't seen most of his fights.
Ali's fights, however, are all around the Internet and I have seen most of them so for me Ali is number1.
