Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
I'm hearing this excuse on why he lost his last fight in brutal fashion was that he was weight drain at 140. The Hatton fans are saying that it was Ricky Hatton's eating habits and balooning in weight so much and then taking it down affected his performance and that he looked drain.
So was Ricky Hatton weight drain or is this an excuse by his beloved fans after they predicted an ko in favor of their man but it was the reversed?
Discuss.

Does'nt matter guys he got the shit kicked out of him and this arguement only proves that not only does PAC punch better than hatton but trains better than him too. Look PAC had a ton of excuses too, his mom there for the first time, no authentic philipino food in the u.s . Blah blah PAC's only real problem right now is them fucked up tatto's. C'mon PAC let my little cousin hook you up

Noway was he weight drained the guy has never not made 140 first time stepping on the scales in his life, all bullshit he just got smashed by a fast powerful amazing fighter, Hatton doesnt live the life of a top athlete. You cant get away with that when you are fighting the best of the best.
Hatton and his dick head team always have excuses for everything, he basically wasnt good enough.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
I think having to lose several stone before a fight cant be beneficial. It had to have a negative effect . He certainly didnt seem like the same Hatton in his last fight who walked through Tszyus shots all those years ago. After the KO defeat to Floyd he looked vulnerable vs a washed up Lazcano so his best days are behind him. He could fight Khan in 1 last fight but I think he is so badly washed up that I doubt he could even beat him these days
Never really rated Hatton TBH. I think he has achived any greatness he is likley to achieve. The only time he looked good in America was vs Castillo. Years of absuing his body has taken its toll.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
What's there to discuss?!? Hatton's natural weight was 140... he got KTFO'ed at 140. His lack of boxing skills and defense were embarassingly exposed against a much superior fighter. He claimed to be fighting for the world's p4p title, when in actuality he shouldn't have been anywhere near the same ring as Pacquiao. Weight drained my ass.

I'm a huge Hatton fan. Never heard this excuse. He's a 140 fighter. If he aint fighting at 140, he should probably retire because he can't compete with the top dogs at 147. Never in a million years should he have taken the Manny fight. I didn't see him winning. He doesn't deal well with Southpaws, and fighters with speed kill him, because he doesn't defend himself well. He lost because he wasn't good enough. I still don't think any less of him as a fighter though.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
Making any weight is draining when you swell up like a dog tick between fights.
Seriously...
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
Yeah - I agree, he could have taken care of himself better in between fights.
But even if he was I dont think he really had a choice. He cant really compete at 47 with his skills and style...

Funny all of a sudden he gets pole-axed at 140{where he was the self proclaimes untouchable KING there}and now he was weight drained.
I thought everyone was saying how good he initially came into camp looking; not all Fat Bastard looking like he usually did when going into pre fight training?
He just got owned; he never would have beat this version of Pac anywhere in his career. The fight didn't go long enough to have fatigue due to the 140 limit to make a difference anyways; he kept running into punches and falling down; weight wasn't the problem, stupidity and a ballooned up ego were.
But hy; he should go back to 147 so he can get KTFO a couple more times then say it was too high:rolleyes:
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
The answer is no. That is all.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
No he was not. 140 he was at his best. Problem for him Manny Pacquiao at 140 was better.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
I have never heard this excuse used before. Don't think it holds water for a fighter who has had almost all of his fight at 140. In fact I heard people saying how much of an advantage it was going to be for him, and how Pacquiao was going to have to deal with a real top tier 140 pound fighter.
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
I swear I've never heard so many excuses for losing as I've heard with Hatton.
His chin left him
unable to move up a division
Joe Cortez
his opponent cheated (used his elbows)
too much Guinness
weight drain
.
.
.
If it wasn't for all of these things, he'd be an ATG for sure.

i love ricky hatton, more than any other fighter since roberto duran, and i will defend him to the hills, but all these scenarios people are putton him in, for example, hatton had the wrong trainer, his mind wasnt right, he had a shit 2 days too late, the truth is he just couldnt cut it against the very best in the world. long live the hitman tho, he will always and 4eva occupy a place in my heart
Re: Was Ricky Hatton weight Drain at 140?
ricky has been victim of his rhythm of life at the highest level of the competition. PErhaps that drinking a LOT and losing 40-50 pounds before a fight can work fine when you fight some good boxers, but when you hit the top of the elite and that you've done that repeatedly in your life.... it catches you up at some moment. That's what happened to Ricky, even harder because he has a very bad style (i.e not very defensive) to get exposed in an even bolder statment.
