Anyone been to an unlicenced boxing event?
I went to one on Friday night at M'boro it was ok very little talent, ok there was no talent but the fights were entertaining! The ring was really small around 15ft at a guess.
Anyone else been to an event and what did you think?
Re: Anyone been to an unlicenced boxing event?
Been to a few opver the years and must say I am against them.
Boxing is dangerous enopugh without a bunch of yokels throwing cards half assed tryingnot to pay a fee, you don't know iof the fighters are drug users, no hiv test, steroid testing.
A felony IMO
Re: Anyone been to an unlicenced boxing event?
I keep getting told I should get into them... their standards are usually very poor because no real trainer would put somebody into the ring in that standard.
Decent way to make a bit of spare change but I don't think it's at all safe, so no.

Its a way to make money but boxing is'nt the safest thing to be in when its licenced with all the check fighters go through and people do suffer injures. If it happend at 1 of these events they would be f**ked.
Was very surprised to see Paul Ingle the former feather champion there he was the guest of honor.

Jesus, you would think that after what happened to him he would be the last person to support an unlicensed fight.

Ingle said in a recent interview he hates boxing and wants nothing to do with it.
Think he's depressed or something, living on Incapacity Benefit.

Not wanting to be unpleasant but I think if anybody offered him a few quid to turn up to anything he'd do it. Shame. :(
Re: Anyone been to an unlicenced boxing event?
i have a few freinds who are roman gypsies, and ive been down to a few of there fights, i remember one in particular, there were two men in there mid thirtys one was from derbyshire and the other was one of our local lads i remember there bein £15.000 pot for the winner not bad for ten mins work. was a brutal fight, but i suppose its bound to be when ur using bare knuckles
Re: Anyone been to an unlicenced boxing event?
I saw lot's of them where I grew up. Town fiestas man. Everybody can join, with or without ring experience. They even have gay vs gay Lol! The event are mainly just for laughs. All fighters are serious though, cuz there's cash prize.
