good stuff mate i remember when the BBC started it up again... we were well pumped about it... shame they were so long out of the game they didn't have a clue what they were doing anymore and scrapped it.

Thats good news indeed....Just like ESPN airing HW title fights free....
I know this will show my age but anyone else in their 30's will remember as well that big time boxing used to be free...If it was on ABC you knoew it was a fight not to miss...
Man I wish those days were here again
Re: Boxing back on free to air TV in Aus
Yeah thanks guys. They (One HD) are committed to 4 fight nights on thurs nights with 4 fights broadcast each night. So 3 to go. Last night saw our local guy Daniel Ahman in the main undercard. He unfortunately was elbowed and the fight was stopped by the Dr in round one. I thought it was a deliberate elbow but Ahman said after the fight it was ok. However on tonights local news he has changed his tune considerably after seeing the footage. The main fight saw Billy The Kid Dibb up against Japanese fighter Kenichi Yamaguchi for the interim WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title. Dib put him down in round one and hit Yamaguchi while he was down. The ref missed it and the Jap fighter was counted out. The Jap reacted and went to Dibb and it was on. Both teams in the ring for a minor melee. Dib should have been DQ'd IMO as it was an obvious shot he got Yamaguchi with while he was down. But there you go. The Dominic Vea V Anthony McCracken was the pick of the fights with Vea winning by KO with big body shots in rnd 7 of 8. Next week sees Rugby League bad boy John Hopoate - recently Ko'd by Oliver McCall going up against Big Bob Mirovich in a rematch for the Australian H/W title which Hoppa won off Big Bob in their last meeting. All in all it was a great night of boxing for a return to free to air TV. Aussie Boxing stalwart Matt Brooks was there and 10 sports guy and former 500cc rider Daryl Beattie lead the team and did a great job. Showed good knowledge and asked relevant questions of the fighters. So i'm looking forward to next Thurs night (Aussie time). And if anyone is up for a DRBR i'm keen, just let me know.
