Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Now that Manny Pacquiao isn’t in Shane Mosley’s immediate future, the future Hall of Famer has turned his attention to Andre Berto.
Golden Boy Promotions, Mosley’s promoter, has begun negotiations....
Mosley shifts focus to Berto <--------Link
Thoughts?
I think Shane would do a job on him based on what we saw in the Urango fight.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
It is a shame for Shane since he is the man at Welter but it would be a good fight between him and Williams.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
I think Mosley is too much for Berto; I could see Shane taking 8 rounds in a fight with Berto. Would be a great experience for Andre though; he's gotten away with some shoddy defense but Shane will make him learn to tighten it up.
As far as Williams; I'd like to see him fight anyone but him and Shane would be great. Guy is just hanging out to dry.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Definitely a great fight and Mosely should win, based off of the Collazo fight. Maybe Williams should be next.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Shane Mosley all day long in this one, I am a Berto fan as well and IMO he has a good future ahead of him but at this stage Shane is just too much for him
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
There both pretty even in the speed department, Shane Mosley has the power advantage. And i think its a given Shane Mosley is tougher, they've both shown good stamina in the past.
I don't think this is as clear cut as people think. Andre Berto when he uses his jab is a very effective weapon, and Shane Mosley has struggled against a good jabber in the past.
The one thing though that is a bad weakness of Andre Berto, and that is that he squares himself up too much on the inside. And despite being a great athletic fighter, he's quite easy to hit. But saying that Shane Mosley isn't no defensive master himself.
I think its a pretty close fight, Andre Berto will give Shane Mosley trouble with his jab and his speed. But i see Shane Mosley's power and experience, aswell as being the better inside fighter being the difference in the fight.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Berto's chin isn't exactly made of granite. I see Mosley having hard time keeping up with Berto's speed, but will catch him eventually in late rounds.
Mosley by KO.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Mosley-Berto? Boy-oh-boy-oh-boy.... I can't wait!! Mosley will chew Berto up and spit him out inside of 7 rounds.
;D ;)
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
Wouldnt be surprised if Berto pulled off an upset in this one. Shane looked great in his last fight but styles make fights and I cant see him ever being that good again .
Class wise he is leagues above Berto but at his age he wants bigger fights. He didnt get the fight he wanted and now he finds himself in this position against a hungry unbeaten fighter.
I lean towards Shane but its only 55-45 in his favour IMO

We horribly disagree on this one, Game. HBO has been pushing Berto's agenda since Day One. Never mind how terrible he's looked in recent fights. (Once HBO puts its stamp on you, you're golden.)
Mosley is light-years ahead of Berto skillwise, and would blow the doors off the Berto bandwagon for all of his disappointed fans to see. It would be downright embarassing.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
I think Mosley handles him physically and even more so mentally.Berto is green in each catagory.Front heavy and forward leaning with rigged legs and from the outside he shoots one-twos and then falls in....seems to become distracted and unhinged.Mosley would sniff that out like a bloodhound.Master vs. Student KO.

I hope youre right . Shane is one of my all time favourites but he has disapointed me in the past when he has been in fights that he didnt want.
He looked poor vs Cruz, Marquez and Mayorga almost pulled off a shock. A young talent like Berto just may have the tools to pull off a shock against an old underprepared and mentally deflated Mosley.
If pumped up Mosley turns up like last time then its lights out for Andre. For some reason I just think it may be the former scenario.

Granted, Mosley would've preferred a Pacquiao fight or even a Cotto rematch... but he's got to focus on whomever they put in front of him. And yeah... boxing has a huge mental aspect, so... if Mosley goes in half-assed, things could be quite different. Geez, I hope not, 'cause I'm a huge Mosley fan myself, and would be rooting for him to embarass Berto.
Re: Mosley shifts focus to Berto
I actually think that Berto in some ways is a more difficult challenge than some of the other guys at 147. With Berto you never know how he's going to fight as makes adjustments from bout to bout. He's also done well to keep himself busy & I have a feeling that he might upset Mosley with a split-decision win.

How is Mosley light years ahead of Berto skillwise? He has worse technique, doesn't throw combinations as well, his defense isn't any better, and he loads up on shots the same way. THe one big difference, possibly why Mosley will win is his durability, and Berto being to eager to throw down.
I said before I saw Berto beating Mosley, and I am sticking to it, I could definitely see Shane win, but I have a feeling Berto is just too fast, throws the right type of punches, and Mosley is really predictable.
