How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
There can't be many.

I am giving serious consideration to picking him to win the whole thing. He's electric. Strong, pretty good punch, hella fast.
I don't really trust his chin. Maybe his stamina too. :-\ Gets a bit wild at times. I haven't quite picked him yet.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
What's wrong with his stamina? I've seen him load up on punches before without any problems, and I think he is too fast for guys to capatilize on him being wild, he definitely doesn't fight wild very often.
I really like him, I haven't seen problems with his chin, even against the hard hitting Oganov, I think that fight showed stamina as well. We will have to see how he does against Froch, that is the only person really worth testing him against, and that is definitely a huge step up in class.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
Oganov was horrible. I'm sure he had some power but it was inflated big time by fighting nobodies. Did you see him against Fulgencio Zuniga? Zuniga's not very good and totally outboxed him and beat him up. Hanshaw rocked Dirrell at least once too.
I kind of question any young fighters stamina until he really proves it. Pretty much the same with chins. And I've seen him tired more than once. Mainly its just cause he'll go crazy and throw these twenty punch combos. He needs to fight a bit closer to the vest against the top guys.
But I like him a lot. Very interesting fighter.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
I don't know why Andre went down against Hanshaw, I mean Anthony never bothered him again after that, it was kind of a wierd situation, and I don't exactly know what happened because the ref didn't give him an 8 count or anything. Dirrel really impresses me off the ropes, he is really slick and has great upper body movement for somebody so tall, I could see Froch beating him, but he is so much more elusive, and so much faster than J. Taylor that I have a hard time seeing it happening. IMO he is the best athlete in the division since Roy Jones Jr left it, and his speed is right up there with Roy's, he doesn't have the power or combinations, but his speed is right up there.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
I actually thought he was hurt more once with a right hand than when he went down. Granted he wasn't out on his feet or anything.
He should dominate early against Froch, just a question of does he stay concentrated, does his stamina or maybe his chin let him down late? Or does he maybe hurt and even stop Froch, I wouldn't be totally shocked by that even though Froch seems to have a solid chin. He should be able to hit Froch fairly easily and with some stuff he doesn't see.

To answer your question-Not many.
Him and Yuorkis Gamboa are the two fastest and most purely talented men in all of boxing, along with perhaps Juan Manuel Lopez as well.
Dirrell is my pick to win the tournament.
As long as he doesn't box like he did against my boy Curtis Stevens couple years ago.
since then though he's been amazing.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
He looks good. I see Froch having real trouble with him. Froch had problems with JT’s speed and Dirrell looks faster. If Carl doesn't put his hands up Dirrell could pepper him with punches like Calzaghe did against Lacy. With is movement he can stay away from Froch’s power.
Froch's best win was against Jean Pascall, where they stood toe to toe and threw bombs. Against JT he was lucky to get the win frankly. I see how Dirrel could beat Froch , but also see how Froch could win. This will be Dirrell’s first big test.
I don’t see him beating Kessler at the moment, but I might change my mind after his fight in October.

Wow! That's the first footage iv'e seen of Dirrell. His speed is almost frightening... Iv'e got to be honest, i don't fancy Froch's chance much after seeing that :-\

The main problem i've seen is he gets too wild aswell, i mean attribute wise. He should beat Carl Froch. But he's never been hit by someone like Carl Froch, and despite Carl Froch's ugly style. He can pressure well so i'd like to see if Andre Dirrel's stamina can hold up.
Re: How many guys are more athletically talented than Andre Dirrell
He looks good, could be a hard night for Froch but he has the experience on his side.He will test Dirrell's chin if it holds out Dirrell might be able to do what Taylor did except been ko in the last seconds.

I personally didn't see that, but to each their own, I didn't really see him get hurt by Henshaw, but he could have.

I think it was the first round he was definitely hurt. I won't namedrop but I have talked in extent to a couple people who have been in the gym with Dirrell and they always talk about the key for him is to keep his composure. It is a genuine concern for those around him. We'll see if he can stay calm when he's tested.

TM?
I agree his composure looks like an issue, has looked like that a few times.

If you are talking about what happened ten seconds into the round, I think he just went down trying to slip punches, he wasn't shaky on his feet afterwards at all.

I think Andre has all the tools to finish what Taylor started to be honest, the compelling thing about the fight is that though Froch has more experience Andre actually enjoys an advantage in nearly everything else, he has height and reach advantage (not by much but still an advantage), he's got more movement than Carl, is miles ahead in the speed department and is probably better technically too, Carl has the power advantage but not one punch power, one thing a lot of people haven't really considerd though is Dirrell is a southpaw, how many quality southpaws has Carl faced? the answer is none, the last southpaw he fought was way back in early 2007 and his opponant was poor, if Dirrell is on his A game i really believe he'll win the fight.
