Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
So my man Carl Froch is back in action against Andre Dirrell in the 168 tournament. I think the tournament is a really good idea as its going to sort out who really is the man at 168. The fact the weight class is very deep shows that this tournament could go anyway and im very excited to watch it.
Carls first match up is against Dirrell, a very talented fighter and I am looking forward to see what hes got to bring to the table. Hes got power, speed and good handspeed which is a good asset to bring against Carl Froch. We have seen in the early JT fight that he struggled with hand speed. Dirrell I think will be very up for the fight as its his first crack at the title and a real chance for him to shine into a US star.
The thing im worried about for him is that the pressure is on right from the start. Hes going to Nottingham to fight Carl whos at the stage of his career now that if he loses then hes not going to get another chance. Carl knows for a fact that if he wins this fight by knockout hes going into the Kessler fight more than likely leading the tournament and I actually think the Kessler-Froch fight is the biggest match up in the tournament. Carl knows that if he doesnt get by Dirrel then the fight with Kessler will really be difficult because im backing Kessler to take Ward on points.
Carl in his last two fights has came from a losing strategy to a winning strategy to shine in the later rounds. He uses a pressure type boxing style which is unusual at 168, but its been working well at the world level. I think Dirrel in terms of skill wont be much more than JT, hes hungry no doubt but hes never came up against anybody as good or as powerful as Carl Froch and I really think Carls going to stop him late in the fight. I think the crowd and Carl really coming on in the later rounds with a lack of world level experience for Dirrel will be too much for the prospect. I think if he can keep his nerves early he may get some rounds, but Carls experience against JT would have done a lot for him IMO and I think he can work that into a lot of fights at 168 and win.
I think Dirrell is in too deep with Carl at this stage of his career because Carl knows that a win against Dirrell will set him up great for a Kessler showdown, which has been one of the most talked about fights at 168 since Carl became champion. I think Carl will stop him late in another great fight and Dirrell wont shame himself but will have to pick himself back up in the next round. Hes a good prospect, but Carls going to take this one ;)
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
I agree I think Dirrell is in to deep to soon, hes talanted but talent alone doesnt get you to where you want to be.
Froch from what I have seen has been very under rated against Dirrell and like you say Tam hes going into Frochs backyard, im going Froch to catch up and knock him out in the 10th.
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
No nothing of Dirrell but he sounds very confident and says Froch is the easiest of the fighters in the tournament. Hope he is wrong.
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
Dirrell is not in over his head. He's only facing Carl Fraud. If he was facing Kessler or maybe Taylor than yeah he would be. But he's not. Plus he's 26 years old. It's time for him to make his move. Dirrell speed and reflexes are off the charts. And he hasn't shown any stamina problems. So unless he gets DQ'ed or just straight robbed I see no reason he doesn't move to 19-0.
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
wow...
this is like a free win for dirrell
:D
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
Froch is far from a top tier boxer....I pick dirrell by KO....
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
It's a fight that I think could go either way. I will be hoping Froch can pull it off, but he does too many tihngs wrong and I can see it catching up sooner rather than later. Hopefully not against Dirrell though.
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
Dirrell is facing Froch first and Ward is facing Kessler first I personally hope both Dirrell and Ward win.

Me too.
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
I expect Direll to win a decision but Froch winning wouldn't surprise me.
Direll's chin hasn't really been tested yet so that could be a factor.

I agree with you VD, Carl Froch is a fraud seeing as he just beat the current WBC 175 Champion and he just KTFO Jermain Taylor the former 160 king, I am in full agreement that he is a fruad
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
this is a good fight. i think froch might win it down the stretch. if not then dirrel UD
Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
tbh I haven't seen much of Dirrell, but Im really not impressed with Froch,
I think he overrates his chin and his defence is awful, both Kess and Abraham
would take him out, I'd even fancy Taylor in a rematch...

Re: Carl Froch - Andre Dirrell
To me Carl Froch is an average world champion and Dirrell would not have to be top draw to beat him and it wouldn't surprise me if Froch comes bottom of the table. I think his hands held low style will come back to haunt him.
Who does he think he is ?
You have to have lightening fast reflexes to get away with that. Also his one-punch at a time (A-La F.Mayweather Jnr) doesn't work for him as he doesn't punch quick or accurate enough for it. Even I can see that crazy uppercut move he keeps trying to pull off coming. I see the two young up-coming guys in Dirrell and Ward dominating this competition.
