I'm going to the Art Gallery everyone!
I just saw an advert last night on the tv for a Salvador Dali exhibition that is in my city for the next few months and think I will go... I've never been to an art gallery or seen any good art in person... A friend of mine has a semi famous artist brother who i've seen some of his art in person and some I really liked and could stare at for hours...
I've never studied art or really get into it that much and had an appreciation for aspects of it, but I do really like Salvador Dali's stuff and it would be pretty amazing to see it right there in person.... For those who havn't heard of him, i'm almost certain you would have seen some of his paintings (posted below)...
The other types of paintings I really like are the huge old Religious paintings from Spain and Italy etc.. They are totally amazing... I hate the Rembrandt type ones.. and scenery like outback/bush type stuff.. really depressing and dull...
anyway, is anyone here into art or ever been to an art gallery?
(and..... in the first picture inside the house on the elephant's back, you can see boobs.. :))

Nice call mate, the art gallery can be a real eye opener. Some people don't realise the cross section that you can find. I have seen a few of Dali's works ove the years and always make a point of visitng local galleries and museums when abroad. One of the things I miss about living in Europe id the culture in terms of history.
Have a look at Google images for this guy, Hieronymus Bosch, I reckon you would like some of his works if you like Dali, a lot of his stuff is quite dark and centred around death !
Not to be confused with the detective novels by Michael Connelly where the guys name is Hieronymus Bosch:p
Also look for a picture of Christ on the Cross by Dali which hangs in the Glasgow art gallery.Amazing picture with an angle in the picture like you are looking up at Christ.

In St. Petersburgh Florida there is a Dali museum I went a couple years ago, really enjoyed it. I took the guided tour and learned allot about Dali allot. Some of his work is definitely knarly

Those do look pretty cool, what "section" of art would they belong under? I'm not too good with all the names.

Hey Salty buddy. I think he was classed as Fucked off his tree. hahaha Or surrealism. Cool stuff Dizaster.
He is awesome though. A lot of his painting that are elephants and things floating into the sky, higher and higher, are how he sees his awareness as lifting from our worldly contraints of understanding, and as his work goes on the detachments to Earth get further and higher. All his perception of it higher understanding, but interesting and really quite mad.
His most known piece is the persistance of time:

From what I have read about the guy, I only did a small paper on him last year for english class with minimal research, was that of all the fans of Salvador Dali, there was no bigger fan of his work then Salvador Dali.
Salvador quote on Salvador:
""at the age of six I wished to be a female cook, at seven Napoleon, ever since, my ambition has been continually on the increase, as has my megalomania: now all I want to be is Salvador Dali. But the closer I get to my goal, the further Salvador Dali drifts away from me."

Good one Diz, may go myself.
Watching a special on him once they said he walked up to his own father and put a handful of sperm into his hand and said "here this is what i owe you!" :spongebob:
Two of my friends own a Dali Lithograth work each, both different, but both definitely the real deal past through their family who are heavily into the art world out here.
I just bought a David Rankin off one of them actually, titled 'husband and wife' its a wood cut print of like two puppet style people the male has control of the wood and the strings and it looks like a couple in a jail of their own making, quite comical and dark but deep too.
