whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
Debating over a pint with a fellow boxing fanatic yesterday and we both had differing views.
Im of the opinion that marq needs to take floyd out of his gameplan quickly and exposing any potential ring rust that may be there by forcing him onto the back foot early and perhaps taking advantage of any potential reflex weaknesses he might have. As the fight enters the mid to late stages i truly believe floyd will find his feet and within 7-8 will have the run of the ring.
My mate on the other hand is of the opinion that it has to be slowly slowly catchy monkey. He believes marq lost both pac fights due to being over zealous early on and almost came a croper against diaz as he was too eager to impose himself in the early rounds. He believes marq will grow as the fight progresses and his domineering style will frustrate the hell out of floyd who will be hoping that his opponent lays it all on the line in the 1st 7.
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
Marquez should be himself.
Marquez has been fighting smaller and faster opponents while Floyd has been fighting bigger but slower ones.
I don't think Floyd's speed will be a big factor, Marquez handled Pacquiao's speed and Floyd is NOT faster than Pacquiao.
Oscar said that Manny had the fastest hands of all of his opponents.

Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
I just love how well the words "tomorrow night" ring.. If there ever was a test what sport I am most passionate for, measure my excitement levels on the eve of a big fight...
Juan's best chance is to keep Mayweather off his game without taking to much damage..
Ricky for the most part had a really good shot in that fight. Mayweather had to really work, just Hatton took to many shots that his chin couldn't withstand..
I think if Juan keeps his head but can savage Mayweather whenever those opportunities arise, it'll be real close....
And if Marquez wins, I am almost positive that it'll be one of the most fantastic fights I will have ever seen.... I really hope this one doesn't go to the cards. Especially for a close, either way decision...

Go with you version, JMM being more himself and testing PBF's endurance early before he gets a second wind. Also his ring timing will be off no matter who he is and early doors is the time to test him IMO.
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
I think he should use a stiff jab and body work early and stay cautious in the early rounds. He should get comfortable with Mayweather's style first and then turn it up just enough in mid rounds and lots more in the later rounds to try to steal the decision.
I think looking for the KO could is always a mistake. If it comes naturally then cool, but if not he should work for the decision.
I expect a smart fight from both fighters. I think Floyd will win the decision but get marked up by Marquez in process.
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
I think the first scenario rings a bit truer, is my take. To exploit any ring rust that PBF jr. have would be JMM's legitimate stab at winning it. He has the speed, endurance, and the firepower to make this fight competitive. Juan being the fitter of the two protagonists (more active), need to bring this fight to a boil. If he sits with the moonwalk, and purely rely on counter-punching entirely to win him this fight, it'll be a long night just to get second prize.
...I'm afraid tho' that bits of the descriptive for the second scenario is what actually would transpire at fightnight. PBF will make sure that his safety is foremost and marginally winning round after rounds purely on accuracy, and out-quicking JMM to the punch all night! All things considered, including primarily the immeasurable handicap for rust, this kind of fight ensures him a a shot at KOing JMM, or at the very least secures a points victory.
No question... JMM, as he has shown in the past, will have the heart not to allow the second scenario to happen. He will fight the fight to make sure that this is not another fight, that got away... This fight cements his legacy!
Not only did he "walk the extra mile" to prepare for this fight... my goodness, he even DRANK PISS-JUICE!
Anti-climactic but... if JMM would choose not do the above winning scenarios, he could probably still have a shot at winning... May make a good account of himself ... but then again, will this a fight still be worthy of it's PPV price tag!
We shall all soon find out. Here's one hoping, and Saturday night... can't get any sooner!
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
Another scenario I was thinking about earlier is where it was mentioned in one of the 24/7 or some other buildup show about how Marquez transformed himself as the smart counter puncher who's happy with a decision, to someone exciting that knocks fighters out and becomes more of a drawcard for fans...
They mentioned that maybe Mayweather might try to reinvent himself in this way.. Mayweather has shown he can trade and had finished fights early, but maybe in the off time he's decided to really take on that attitude mixed with his already great defensive skills... If so then trying to incorporate that type of style in the fight might mean his gameplan isn't as sharp as it has been and marquez can take advantage of that... If mayweather plans on doing ANYTHING different to how he used to may mean the fight is far more interesting and gives marquez another sniff..
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
If you look for a simple way to beat mayweather you're not going to find one. It's very hard to land a clean shot let alone land a hard enough shot to put him in any danger.
What's needed isn't so much strategy rather speed and and good defensive skills. The day Mayweather loses if it ever happens it will be the kind of fight that could have gone either way, with a good argument for both fighters. If you go out looking for knock out blows Mayweather will find it easy to counter punch or avoid damage until you start to slow. A jab must be well utilized to counter Mayweathers speed, a jab that matches Mayweathers for speed and power. If you can win the battle of the jabs you are part way there. Mayweather throws a lead right when his opponent least expects it or is off balance. you'll need to constantly faint to keep this from happening and keep him guessing. His body shots are hugely under estimated so your body needs to be trained hard. Cardio and speed should be priority in training.
It would be a messy tactical battle with both fighters spoiling leaving mayweather with good cause to complain.

i dont see floyd retuning a winning formula against someone as dangerous as marquez
If he does trade with marquez early on it`ll play right into the mexicans advantage as juan has been there and done that all before.
The reason floyd is favourite tommorow is because of his defensive abilitys. If he trys to abandon certain attributes in order to do a complete number on marquez he may just find himself in a heck of a lot of trouble!
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
Marquez is the most skilled fighter Floyd has faced, its a shame Marquez is that bit smaller.
Marquez will start slow, Floyd counters and if Marquez keeps back Floyd will need to work and Floyd might try dominating knowing hes bigger.
Juans trainer is right that Floyd can handle 2 or 3 shots but if Juan can open up after a counter he will land, all Mayweathers opponents have been intimidated by Floyds speed, they dont open up in case they get countered, Marquez has dealt with real speed, its Floyds strength that will show late.
Marquez has a good chance of hurting Floyd with his body shots, it will be an interesting fight for sure, Marquez has all the skill in the world and Floyds coming back from a lay off, I think Floyd will look the worst he has done in the first few rounds and then it would be nice to see Marquez build on that;)
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
I think to come out fast could be a good idea. Not an all out attack but a much faster pace than Mayweather is used to and for god's sake use angles. Watch the De La Hoya fight and Hatton fight. Either of these two through more than a few punches then back off, square up and look for something. Marquez has to the throw everything in combination. Land three or four to Mayweather's one sharp counter. Another tendency Marquez has is to sit back wait, wait then throw a sharp combination. He can NOT wait for Mayweather he must initiate the fight and throw combinations. This is the first half of the fight if all is well.Second half if he is in the lead and knows it. Switch it up. You know Mayweather will start to come forward to throw some crisp clean shots that do alot of damage. This stage Marquez has too keep his leg's moving and hope Mayweather tire's a little and start's to reach for something. This is were Marquez is dangerous. This is only if Mayweather starts to come forward then work the angles and box,box,box-counter,counter,counter..
Seems farfetched but it can be done.
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
JMM is almost as skilled as PBF. PBF is just a little faster & Quicker. But the power advantage belongs to JMM. PBF really didn't show he has the Power at Higher weights. He did KO hatton but Pac showed how easy it is to Ko Hatton. He TKO Gatti but Alfonso Gomez did it too. Cotto Destroy Judah but Judah survived 12 rds with PBF.
You think PBF could've Koed Casa & Juan at 135??? I don't think so!!!
PBF main advantage is speed. But JMM already dealt with it with Pac & Diaz and showed he has an antidote for it. What JMM can't deal is slickness which PBF greatest attributes. If JMM can't find PBF, it will result in a boring fight. But If PBF lost a step then this will be a tactical & Competitive fight.
I can see the 1st 4 rds as a warm up & will very tactical with PBF winning 3-1. Around the middle rd, I can see JMM landing some Precision overhand right & uppercuts. PBF will be effecive with Lead Right & Jab. JMM will take most of the Middle rds. PBF will switch to hit & run the rest of the fight & will win a Split Decision on the cards. JMM will cry robbery but will eventually get his third fight with Pac after Pac Koes PBF & JMM unify 140 lbs Class.

Could you be anymore full of shit?
HAve you seen Floyd at 130-135??? did you see how he annilated Chavez, Corrales etc..
1) Casa is shot to pieces
2) Malignaggi just boxed circles around Diaz and got screwed
3) Floyd ruined hatton before Pac got to him
4)Gatti got absolutely destroyed by Floyd at 140 and then fought Gomez at 147, you know the same Gomez who has fought at Middleweight before
There is no skill or attribute JMM has that Floyd isint better at
You really dont know your ass from a hole in the ground pal.. Stick to what you know best, and thats inspecting Pac's dirty underwear
Re: whats juans best chance of victory tommorow night?
I think the only way Marquez can win this fight is by taking his risk and engaging Floyd in a hard, inside fight. But I doubt if Juan Manuel can withstand the rigors of long, tough, inside fight at his age against a younger, bigger opponent. So if he decides go for it, he better make it quick. Easy said than done, though...
Or he might just play it safe and opt to dance with Floyd and hope that, with a help from a little magic of his uncle Golden Boy, get the decision.
Otherwise, he'd be playing right into Floyds game and you all probably know what that means - getting countered all day and probably being KO'd eventually.
...Floyd might try to make a good impression for his 1st comeback fight so he might go for a quick KO. So Marquez must be ready for it...
At the worst, the fight has a potential for a making of a huge snoozefest.
...or if we're lucky, a Fight of the Year candidate...
How 'bout some surprises...
