Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
I was reading somewhere else that Marquez weighed about 148 on the day of the fight and that Floyd had actually refused to be weighed. Is there any credence to this?
Floyd did look huge compared to Marquez, so he could have been weighing something like 155 pounds and up by my reckoning. It wasn't a fair fight in the slightest and I really think Floyd took the piss big time by not coming in at 144.
Marquez would likely have lost anyway, but that is not the point. Marquez is a great warrior and would never refuse to fight, so I really think Mayweather used the weight just to make sure Marquez had nothing to offer.
A lot of people have paid a lot of money to watch a good fight, so shame on Floyd for the way he has carried on. He has disrespected both Marquez and the fans. At least Marquez gets some compensation...what about the fans though? Short changed as always.
Re: Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
I agree there was already the weight issue at the catch-weight of 144 then Marquez comes in at 142 and Floyd at 146.. very disappointing to hear. I agree with you although Marquez would have likely lost i hate when a boxer does not meet what was agreed on. It look like he never managed to meet the weight limit since i can't recall Floyd not making weight.. ever. I don't know what to make of him not wanting to weigh in.. maybe he was at 152 or something.. perhaps even more seeing as JMM was 142 and came in at 148.

I dont know about fans being shortchanged. all I heard was Floyd getting a fair amount of cheers when his hand was raised in victory

It actually did look a little bit like David and Goliath to me. I would love to know what Floyd weighed in there, but it seems we will never know. :-\

And here is the full post fight interview. Mayweather refused to answer any questions about the weight issue. The man is happy to take the 10million dollars plus PPV, but refuses to offer any integrity whatsover. It's no wonder Kellerman started talking over him at the end. Floyd simply refuses to say anything meaningful.

even if it was a BS answer, the scales in camp were off, it would have meant something a little more than I refuse to answer the question, which makes people suspect it was deliberate.

Exactly, it was obviously premeditated. Plus the refusal to get weighed today and on top of that the evasion in this interview. Floyd is as guilty as charged. God knows what he weighed in the ring.....Mayweather looks like a selfish prick as always, but Marquez walks away with his pride intact. He wasn't given a fair shake of the dice at all.
Re: Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
Don't get me wrong, Floyd is a brilliant fighter -probably the best in my lifetime, but... despite all the natural advantages he still strives to gain even more of an advantage: There was the size of the ring against Hatton and making a point to the ref about fighting inside, not to mention fighting him at Welter -he'd have beating Ricky under any circumstance!
But do you know the one thing that annoys me the most? Not only does he fight blown up Featherweights and Super-Featherweights, but we always hear the same reasoning, "Floyd started at Super-Feather" Yeah, but he moved up in his early to mid twenties as his body grew; Marquez et al are moving up in their thirties!

That really boils my piss!!! You couldn't have summed it up better! My dislike of 'money' has grown so much more this weekend!
Gobbing-off is part and parcel of pro boxing, most people dislike him for his mouth (I happen to think PBF is amusing with this trash talk though) I dislike it but accept it is gonna happen. What I don't like is dragging people to different weights and then bulking up himself over the weight!
If that was a title fight would he weigh 2 pounds over!? Would he f&*k!!!!! Because he would be stripped!
PBF wanted a comeback victory and he did everything he could to ensure he got it before even stepping into the ring!
The whole principle of boxing is about 2 evenly-matched men going for it in the ring! Spoils to the victor, 'Money' has once again proven what his motivation is, the moniker in this case is very apt:(
I feel sorry for JMM, he was always on a losing dime in this fight!
Re: Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
This taken from Fight News:
On Friday, Mayweather had to cough up $600,000 after failing to make the bout weight of 144 pounds by coming in at 146. Marquez came in weighing 142 pounds – 12 pounds more than his usual 130 pound fight weight – and the difference was evident from the opening bell. Mayweather refused to weigh himself again before the fight so the world will never really know how much of a size advantage he had.
Quotes from Marquez:
“I’m a little upset but I tried my best. The weight was a big problem. I think there was a 20 pound difference in weight,” Marquez said after the fight. “I’m not trying to make excuses. I came to fight twelve hard rounds and a lot of people thought I was going to get knocked out.”

There were 10X more cheers when Max Kellerman mentioned Shane Mosely's name.

And there were a LOT of boos for Mosley when him & Hopkins tried to take over proceedings. Part of that was that the Marquez fans were leaving en masse mainly just leaving Mayweather fans.
Re: Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
The BEST part about this fight? The END of it! when Mosley punked out Mayweather and had him stuttering like the punk he is lol.. Other than that it was a boring mismatch! I give him zero respect for this win. He couldnt even knock Marquez out despite being much bigger?

It was mainly Hopkins causing the shiit. Mosely shook his hand and just said we want a shot. Hopkins then started mouthing off behind him. Look at Floyd's facial expressions when Hopkins gets involved. It was biitchy from both sides. Mayweather's entourage started pushing round and mouthing off also.
Re: Floyd refused to be weighed on the same day weigh in?
Considering that it is through HBO and the boxing public at large that Floyd is able to command such a high purse and a percentage of the PPV, I think it is only right that Floyd answer the serious questions pertaining to his weight and allegations surounding this fight.
He has shown himself to be far from honest, duplicitous in fact. And he is quite content to ignore questions and say that it is all in the past. The boxing public should be well aware of what they might be getting before going to see Mayweather in action or splashing out on a Mayweather PPV.
