How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
I've never seen him fight or even read anything about him, but I've seen his name come up a few times and his record looks pretty impressive. I noticed VD has him in his top 10 P4P, so obviously he's familiar with him. There are some clips of him up on youtube is anyone is interested.
Hozumi Hasegawa
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
I think there's a case for him in the P4P, lower half probably. Although he may be borderline, I don't know, I'd have to work out a list.
He's real fast, good boxer, yeah you can check him out on youtube, seems if I remember correctly there's a good number of his fights on there. Been knocking people out and doing it quickly lately, bit odd considering he's got only 11 KO's in 27 wins but he hasn't gone past two rounds in his last four fights.
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
he's more of a top 15 material. he'll be top 10 soon no doubt.
incredibly good fighter. clearly the best in his division currently. he just might go down as a great at bantamweight when he's retired.
watch any of his recent fights... i think a lot of them are on youtube. the veeraphol rematch in particular was a very impressive outing from him.

if unproven guys like Donaire are on the p4p list, Hasegawa should of been there a long time ago
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
I think very highly of him. He seems to be getting better and better and his power has really been coming through his last few fights. I would like to see him fight outside of Japan, but I dont see that happening, which is too bad because he is one of the best fighters in the world.
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
He's an outstanding talent. It's a shame he makes great money in Japan. So chances of him leaving are pretty slim. He just might have the fastest hands in Boxing. He's recently been sitting down more on his punches, adding more power to them. He's knocked out his last 4 opponents in 2 rounds or less. He's clearly the best Bantamweight out there. And has been for awhile
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
I've only had a chance to watch two clips, but he has a impressive straight left. That seems to be his money punch. In the two I saw he did strike as a bit of a one-handed fighter, but the sample size was so small that I don't really have any grounds to feel that way.

We should just be thankful Bilbo's not around for this thread, he'd have somebody new to spam about.
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
These are the new "Who is Harry Simon?" threads.
Hasegawa would be on almost everyones P4P list if he was more known. He's been on mine for his talent and potential for a while now.
Re: How good is Hozumi Hasegawa?
Hasegawa is one of the best talents in boxing today, as VD said he's never going to leave Japan though. I trying to stream his fights whenever I can because his hand speed is crazy fast, if you get him to back up on the ropes he reacts like a prime JMM unleashing combinations, when he's coming forward his straight left strikes like a viper. All this and he is still noticably improving from fight to fight.
