Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
What happens to Vitali Klitschko and Cris Arreola after their fight? Vitali got the hardest fight since his comeback and Arreola has just suffered his first loss.
Vitali Klitschko is rumored to be fighting 30 year old contender Kevin Johnson 22(9 KO)-0-1 in Germany, maybe in December. I wonder, #1 what's left for Vitali to do other than try to win the WBA belt? #2 What are Johnson's chances vs Vitali after seeing what he did to Arreola?
Cris Arreola is going to have to take time off to heal up and that may have adverse effects on his weight and his stamina and this beating may have ruined his chin as well. Who should Arreola come back against and where should he go from here? Should he aim to fight Wladimir? Should he try and climb the easier WBA ladder??
Your thoughts?
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Arreola should go for the WBA belt, hell if Ruiz and Valuev can hold it then anyone can. Although this is the type of fight that can ruin fighters, so let's see in the future if Cris can rebound from this.
And I would love to see Vitali lay out the winner of Haye/Valuev.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
It's going to be very difficult for Vitali to fight the winner of Haye-Valuev, just because those guys don't have it in them to prove themselves to the fans.
I too worry about Arreola and how he rebounds...I know he has a warrior spirit, but I just hope he doesn't become a heavyweight Fernando Vargas.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Crazy fight! I mean I was not sure if Arreola was exposed, Vitali was just that good, Vitali was suffering from the early pace set by Chris, he proved that he could fight on the run and well as stop and batter his opp.....
Not sure exactly but I do know Vitali looked like a man who was in control all ni9ght and was trying out some new things....
I started to think that maybe if it was Haye in the ring last night Vitali would be in trouble because of the speed but then again looking at the fight Vitali did what he wanted against a guy who hit harder then Haye, was bigger then Haye and has a better chin then Haye and he was embaressed by arm punches
These Klitschkos are phenoms that I am beginning to believe are so good they look bad at giving out these effortless one sided wins.
The HW division may not be the strongest it can be by far but man even for these caliber opp these guys make it look too easy.
What is left for Vitali? The WBA title just to win it because I see nothing stopping him but other then that no challenges or should I say legit challenges are out there for him.
If Chris can recover mentaly from the one sided loss he will be OK and should continue right where he was before the fight, The WBA is certainly the route to follow as he has zero chance against either of the Brothers Grimm
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
I think you are 100% correct, the Klitschko's beat their opponents in such onesided fashion, the feat of beating someone like Arreola or Chagaev gets lost over a prolonged period of rounds.
Sure people want to see Vitali take Cris out early, but he knows the KO is well in hand as long as he keeps up the pace, so why force the KO? Forcing the KO gets you into trouble, it gives the opponent more chance to counter and more chance to turn the tide in the fight.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
I thought it was strange at the end of the fight Emmanuel said something like there is really no reason for Vitali to keep fighting in response to where does he go from here. There is really no serious competition for Vitali other than his brother.
Emmanuel was also saying that if the Klitchkos ever fought it would be one of the most brutal heavyweight fights ever...not so sure about that!
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Yeah I think sparring is one thing and fighting for a W is another thing. Would be one of the more dangerous fights though, both those guys can crack!
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
i want to see haye in with one of the klitschko, i haven't see someone carry out on a stretcher for a while now.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Kevin Johnson isn't ready for Vitali yet. God what is it with these heavyweights, they get to around 23 or 25 and 0 with at most one name on their record and most of the time not even that and they get a shot at the Klits?
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
I wanna see Arreola in with Sam Peters not sure it will happen tho.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Its easy to do but I'm not looking past Valuev turning Haye on his head.Just on massive size difference alone,a win,a terrible showing...much will be defined after that one. Will be interesting to see Hayes gameplan & how he copes with visions of Vitali or Wlad ahead.
There were spots with Vitali lastnight,He was not terribly crisp and still stands head high when a guy manages to get inside and throw caution to the wind...of course you have to be able and willing to walk through some serious leather. One minute he was fluid and moving well and the next he looked straight out of a George Romero movie. Not sure about Johnson, good size, fast jab and hands but has faced nothing comparble to a Klitschko.
Arreola should keep his head up,He did what he could with what got him to the big dance. No secrets really,he is what he is and surely will be back in the mix.Hoping he keeps things on the lean side and works on combination punching.I dont doubt his chin and fortitude and thats a solid foundation.
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Aftermath is a bit of a strong word. :p
Guy who was supposed to win did. Guy expected to show up out of shape and get beat, showed up slightly less out of shape then we thought, and got pummeled. For what, 10 rounds? and they quit him. then he cried.
But I appreciate the enthuasiasm Lyle.

That would actually be a pretty darn good fight
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
Kevin Johnson is 6'3, he has a very long reach, but he lacks power and the toughest fighter he's gone up against is either Devin Vargas, Damian Willis or Bruce Seldon....he looks like Hasim Rahman but he doesn't have the power.
Youngblood, Aftermath = Hence; that which happens after, that which follows. Has a strongly negative connotation in most contexts, implying a preceding catastrophe. I would say that about describes the fight from Cris Arreola's viewpoint.
Arreola vs: Sam Peter, Denis Boytsov, Alex Povetkin, or Odlainer Solis would be great fights
Re: Klitschko-Arreola Aftermath
haha. ur funny. thanks for the english lesson but am pretty sure I understood the word. Seriously, is good to see you excited. ;)
This was a nice warm up. Can't wait for the big fights coming up. Those are gonna be apocalyptic!
