Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
Fightnews has pictures of them in camp together Povetkin-Atlas in training camp! | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7
If Atlas is Povetkin's trainer then what does it mean for Povetkin's career? Atlas's most recent heavyweights haven't really amounted to much, Michael Moorer, Michael Grant.
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
I just read this on FN and thought exactly the same...why Sascha why...?
I thought the trainer Povetkin had against Chambers did a good job...
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
I've just read the same thing. It seems that it is true, we even see a picture of Atlas removing one of Povotkin's glove.
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
Yes this is true. They did announce it about three or fight's before the end of the Friday Night Fight's season. Atlas was going to be "trying out" to be Povetkin's trainer and about a month later Povetkin said yes.
I like Teddy I think he is one of the very best trainer's around. It's really not his fault his fighter's are just weak minded. I liked Grant he started at a late age I believe 20 and Atlas was still able to make him into a championship caliber fighter.

Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
The ESPN2 crew had a special night (Guillermo Rigondeaux showcase) about three weeks ago where they were talking about Atlas training Povetkin.

Yea i read that...
Think it might of been a couple of months ago... Round about the time this forum last went Atlas-Hate Crazy (for some reason ??? ).
Good article, full of interesting facts analogies :)
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
...now don't get me wrong, I think Atlas is a very smart and funny guy, but to be honest I don't think he adds ANYTHING to Povetkin. What is he going to teach him the peek-a-boo??? Alex is a small-ish heavyweight, he has a great amateur background, but he's lacking power, speed, and I think this is going to ruin all parties involved.
Although on the other side of the coin I think this move (if successful) might hype up Povetkin especially if he fought Wladimir because of his trainer being American and connected to another All-Time great trainer of a bygone era...that fight wouldn't be just Povetkin-Klitschko it would be Povetkin (Atlas-D'Mato) vs Klitschko (Steward-Futch).
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
Being a boxer, I wouldn't having uncle Teddy to train me as for his knowledges and aptitudes to teach me the proper thing for the right situation but I would damn fear that he might snap and get all crazy and dangerous at any moment.
Re: Is Teddy Atlas training Alex Povetkin?
Should concentrate on leaning up some more and dominating with that excellent jab he doesnt use enough before throwing him in with the big boys
