I think the Heavyweight division is in promising shape!
For the first time since Lennox Lewis left, the HW division is looking promising IMO. We have got decent fringe fighters such as Arreola, Solis, Povetkin, Chagaev, Haye and now after last week Tua again. We have the 3 title holders (one of which set to be dethroned by Haye next month) and 2 of them are if not the most exciting, very respectable fighters who you could argue could have held their own against the last golden era of Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe etc.
So I think that the division has improved enormously over the last 18 months or so!
Does anyone else see the HW division coming out of it's own little recession or is it my wishfull thinking getting the better of me?
Re: I think the Heavyweight division is in promising shape!
Its been decent for awhile now, guys like Ibragimov haven't gotten the credit they deserve when they are at their best, same with guys like Calvin Brock, and Samuel Peter(around when he faced Wladimir, and was actually hungry for boxing and not for food)

Calvin Brock and decent dont go together.
Calvin Brock and shite is much better combination
Re: I think the Heavyweight division is in promising shape!
Calvin Brock lost 1 time to Wladimir Klitschko and he did a decent job in that fight.
I will say this yet AGAIN, the heavyweight division is competative, it's just competative in the CONTENDER level and not at the CHAMPIONSHIP level as the Klitschko's are hands down better than anyone in the division right now.
There are good bouts to be made and interesting matchups as well with good young fighters

Brock and Ibragimov are still retired right?Heavys shaping up ever so slightly but until the brothers topple one another or Vitalis back goes out,not to many threats.Should haye get by the Man mammoth he'll have to fight one of them.Don't see Tua being a factor.Must have burned some serious bridges Stateside over at HBO and Showtime or something?

Ibragimov said he is not retired. The rumours were false!

He's agood fighter and he beat decent comp to get his chance againt Wlad, and in his fight with Wlad, he gave Klitschko way more problems than anyone else has lately.
Re: I think the Heavyweight division is in promising shape!
It amazes me how Corrie Sanders and Brewster knocked Wladmir out and no one has gone all ape shit on Wlad since then. Seems that if you go out on a seek and destroy mission with him, you could win. Just my thoughts.
Re: I think the Heavyweight division is in promising shape!
...in reality only Sanders went "ape shit crazy" on Wladimir and Wlad obliged by giving up height and reach and trying to trade with him.
Lamon Brewster absorbed 4 rounds of brutality and kept chasing after Wladimir and Wlad eventually tuckered out.
The only ways to beat Wladimir are #1 Catch him with solid punches AND follow up #2 Take everything he has and keep applying pressure.
I think #2 Has been pretty much solved by Wladimir, #1 he may still have an issue with if and when he gets hit hard enough.
