Re: my take on froch-dirrell
Completely agree with your take on the fight.
Whilst I might not agree 100% with the way boxing is, every fight fan knows that you can't come into a champions back yard and run for the entire fight and take the title. He needed to make an impression instead of bitch and moan at every opportunity.
But great call. Strange how everything looks different sober!

I think this sums up my feelings on Dirrell perfectly:

I no longer care who people think won on points, this isn't boxing. He has great skills defensively but boxing is still entertainment, people won't watch if everyone thinks they can steal a win fighting like this.
Froch may not have deserved to win, but Dirrell certainly deserved to lose.
Re: my take on froch-dirrell
Dirrelll just wasn't active enough in the first half of the bout to walk away with a win.
He's got good boxing skills and a lot of talent and potential but he needs a fighters mind set... cos right now he only showed glimpses of one.
Some of his 'head movement' was farcical too... I'm surprised the ref didn't pull him up on it more- I've never seen a pro fighter duck below the waist so blatantly... offering nothing but the back of your head isn't defensive mastery.
For the first half of the fight he was barely landing anything, he may have made Froch look stupid a few times but that doesn't win rounds... he was too inactive
From about the 7th round I thought he was starting to turn it on... but even that just became sporatic... looked great in bursts, but not enough to clearly win the close rounds... I wounder if it's just his mentality or his stamina... in the latter rounds he was breathing very heavily in his corner.
It may sound like I'm knocking him, but I actually think he has the talent to do very well, with hand speed and movement like that he could go all the way... but his mentality has to change IMO.
Re: my take on froch-dirrell
I think I am going to have to chalk this one up as a learning experience for myself. In how differently a fight can be perceived. For I have watched it 3 times now, scored it 3 times, and even trying to give Froch the close rounds and the pt deduction, still have him down by 2.
And I see some people who I think are batshit crazy or biased blindly scoring to Froch, but others whom I respect for opinons also giving it close to Froch. So I guess it really is a perspective deal (even though mine is the correct one 8) ). So yea, w/e. Onward we go.
Hattonthehammer, guess where you fit in in that deal. :p
Re: my take on froch-dirrell
In all honesty I wouldn't have been at all surprised if they gave it to Dirrell and had it a draw.
Because of the manner of a lot of the rounds you could have scored some of them for either guy, depending on what you were looking for.
If it was judged (or scored) like an amateur fight then Dirrell would have nicked it.

ha ha, i know mate
This is very hop-calzaghe esque - ugly fight that you should really score for the guy attempting to engage a fight and throwing the better punches yet end up scoring the round to the guy that was able to dodge everything due to his reluctance and land cleanly every time due to the fact the guy he is fighting doesnt at any point expect his man to be active.
As ive said neither guy comes away from this with much credit. Froch was made to look far inferior than what he was built up to be while dirrell is officially the ugliest fighter to enter a boxing ring. Not even gatti or duran could engage andre dirrell in a fight.
Dont want to and hope i dont have to see andre dirrell fight again, horrible fighter
Where carl is concerned i just hope for his sake he left that performance in the gym as had that of been mikkel kessler in with him it would of been a short night for him!!
Re: my take on froch-dirrell
At least a DRAW- At the most a DRAW. It is what it is now on to the next fights
