your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
the lightweights....
Joan Guzman
Edwin Valero
Nate Campbell
Joel Casamayor
Michael Katsidis
Juan Diaz
1st pool of matches....
Joan Guzman vs Joel Casamayor
Nate Campbell vs Michael Katsidis
Edwin Valero vs Juan Diaz
who wins the 3 fights and why??
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
Well Campbell & maybe Diaz can no longer make Lightweight so there out. Maquez is still the Champ so he has to be in the mix here. I think he's starting on the downside of his career. Next fight will tell. Guzman might be the man at 135 but who knows since hasn't be active. Valero is unproven as well. Like to see him get a fight with Katsidis and see where both guys are at.
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
Juan Manuel Marquez (he'd be the Kessler of the Lightweight super 6)
Michael Katsidis (he's improved and is al action)
Edwin Valero (entertaining)
Humberto Soto (he's planning on moving up anyways)
Vicente Escobedo (he looked impressive against Katsidis and well is the wild card)
Joan Guzman (if he can make the weight)
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
I'd love to see this tournie no problem man. I'd pick it like this
Joan Guzman (Nate Campbell, if he could make the weight)
Juan Manuel Marquez
Edwin Valero
Juan Diaz
Michael Katsidis
John Murray
Hell, i'd like to swap Guzman for Campbell then this would be just a bunch of wars IMO.

or even Ali Funeka, he did well against Campbell
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
Damnit I made one of these for the heavyweight division. Anyway no Marquez in the tournament I'd consider him to be the true champion still, and let the winner fight him.

Kessler is considered the #1 guy at 168 and yet he's in the tournament

I agree, it adds seriousness to the tournament; If the contenders have to prove that they deserve their titleshot, the king has to prove he deserves his crown.
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
Kessler may be considered the number 1 guy but he doesn't have a Ring belt to his name and his biggest win in the past couple years has been the Calzaghe loss. He has just as much to prove as the other guys in the tournament, Marquez wouldn't.
Also, Ali Funeka should take Nate Campbell's place. Casamayor, I'd rather see Anthony Peterson. The good thing Showtime did is they didn't have old fighters who no one cares to see anymore. Casamayor is probably done, I'd rather see them mix in a younger, even if less proven, guy like Anthony Peterson like Showtime did with Dirrell and Ward.
135 does look pretty wide open though maybe more wide open then just 6 spots. The guy you could ever envision being called the best SMW in the world right now outside of the Super 6 is Bute. The 135 lb weight category is a lot more tricky. There is a heap of wild cards from Miguel Acosta who just KO'd the very good prospect Urbano Antillon to Humberto Soto who is moving up from 130 to lightweightn now and will actually face Acosta next. There are like a dozen guys who feel like they should be in any tournament at 135.

Casa is moving to LWW next fight
Jaun Diaz has left lightweight 4 good I'm pretty sure
Got a feeling Kats is going to move up in weight pretty soon. He looks drained!
Guzman couldn't make weight against Campbell, who is also at LWW now.
So it's a one man, tow arm punching contest with JMM vs JMM. Fighting 2 weight classes below his last fight!!
Lamont Peterson
Tim Bradley
Kendall Holt
Antonio Demarco
Renoldo Reyes
JMM
Honorable mention ... ... Bobby Pacquiao!!!
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
I have this line up-
JMM-Funeka
Valero-Soto
Guzman-Katsidis

Although I agree with your overall view Amat, I Just couldn't help but point that out.
I agree JMM doesn't need to be in the tourney. He has options at other weights, whilst Nate, Juan Diaz & Casa have all left the weightclass so for me it would be
Edwin Valero
Michael Katsidis
Joan Guzman
Humberto Soto
Anthony Peterson
Ali Funeka
I think out of that either Soto or Guzman win it.
Re: your dream super 6 - the lightweights, who wins????
After Pac gets beat punching above his weight (which he will in the next 2 fights as long as they are Cotto and Mayweather) I think he will move back to LW so i'd like to see his name in there.

If JMM is not there the Peterson is a good replacement
It would be a toss up for me between DeMarco & Peterson

I think you'd need Peterson just to give it a bit of American interest.
