Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
Manny Pacquiao: Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn't want to fight me - ESPN
Quote:
LOS ANGELES -- Manny Pacquiao believes the biggest potential fight in boxing will never happen because Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants no part of him.
Pacquiao is training in Hollywood for his meeting with Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14, but the pound-for-pound champion spared a moment Thursday to consider his chances of fighting pay-per-view king Mayweather in what would be an extremely lucrative bout for both fighters.
"I don't think it's going to happen," Pacquiao says. "I'm sure he doesn't want to fight."
Pacquiao says Mayweather treats boxing too much like a business and doesn't care about entertainment value for his fans. Pacquiao is known for his crowd-pleasing style, while Mayweather is boxing's most accomplished tactician.
Bad Move Manny, I think he should concentrate on Cotto and not think it's a forgone conclusion that he's going to win.
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
Completely agree, I've been picking Pacquiao to win all along because I feel Cotto is on the slide, but the general impression I've got is that Manny thinks this & thinks he's another Oscar or Hatton. That he's bought into his own hype. I still think he beats Cotto, but he doesn't seem to give him the respect he deserves.
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
Cotto should end all this Mayweather-Pac talk
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
Goddamn I hope Cotto beats the living fuck out of Pacquiao...
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
I really doubt Pacquaio sparing a moment to comment on a Mayweather fight means he isn't focused on the Cotto fight. Its just like when I won my basement ping pong tournament when I was in high school, I was looking ahead at times. Anyway if he isn't focused he'll get shitkicked.

If it was just this I'd ignore it, but he seems to generally be overlooking Cotto a bit, at least that's the impression I've got from his attitude in the past few months.
Let's remember Cotto's words at the press conference - 'I am not Oscar De La Hoya, I am not Ricky Hatton, I am not a basement ping pong competition, I am the Walrus!!' Ok I just got bored mid-sentence there, but that's the basic gist of it
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
Lol, this to me shows that Manny is scared, I doubt they've really talked about things, Mayweather would pick Manny apart, Manny is a great fighter, but Floyd is that much better, and a guy like Manny needs to land first, which he could only do half of the time agianst Marquez which is why he came up almost even. Floyd would beat him to the mark everytime, is by far the harder man to hit out of the two, he's bigger, better body puncher, gets off quicker, etc, etc ,etc.

I have no doubt that Pacquiao will come into the fight focused and with a solid gameplan. It seems like every time he fights there are all sorts of rumours of turmoil in his camp, of him lacking focus etc. and he always shows up looking very well prepared.

Well said. Manny is going to be in for the fight of his life if Cotto is in his walrus midset. He's nigh on unbeatable like that.
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
hahahaahaha
"I am not DLH or Hatton" ??
Before those fights the name DLH and Hatton doesnt connote negative impression on fighters.
Can Cotto really say he can beat DLH and Hatton easily?
after the Cotto fight the next Pacquiao opponent wil say
"Im not DLH, Hatton or Cotto. im the Walrus!" ;D

I was impressed by Pacquiao's victories over ODH and Hatton, though I did feel he would win both, but do you honestly think Cotto wouldn't handle either one of them in the same situation?
Re: Pacquiao: Mayweather Doesn't Want to Fight
I do, and I think Oscar wasn't Oscar when he faced Manny, it was still very impressive, but he was a dried up old prune.

Mate
Oscar Dela was not not at his best but he will not lose to Cotto the way he lost to Pacquiao. Dela Hoya would land a few left hooks because cotto is not as slippery as pacquiao. and landing a few left hooks could mean a LOT in a fight im sure you'll agree.
on Hatton. same case, you think Hatton will get caught by right hooks a few seconds into the fight againts Cotto? If you look at the phase of PAC-Hatton. very few can keep up with that and Hatton got sparked because he's so aggressive and Pac is accustomed to that phase. in Cotto Hatton got a target that he can actually hit.
My answer is Cotto wouldn't handle either one of them in the same situation. 50/50 on both fights.
