Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
Freddie Roach has decided that Manny Pacquiao is a 145lb fighter. Not a 140lber or 147lber. No he's a 145lb guy & can only fight at that weight.
It was one thing for him to do it to Cotto, because granted Manny was the smaller guy & coming up in weight, whilst Cotto likes to impose his strength. I didn't agree with it, but I can understand it.
Now, he's also said he wants a Mayweather fight at 145. This smells of BS because let's face it Mayweather doesn't impose his size on people & no way is he THAT much bigger than Pacquiao.
But, to top it all off, now Roach has said that if there was to be a Pac-JMM III, it could only be at 145lbs. Yep, apparently Manny who's not big enough to make the full welterweight limit, would simply be unable to burn off the weight to make light-welterweight.
It's all here

Apparently Roach 'likes that weight for Manny', so all weightclasses will be bastardized to suit his needs

Xadu?
nah, is a bit ridiculous if they hold to that but we don't know for sure if they will.
I would say that Floyd does seem clearly bigger to me, he looked solid against JMM, but if its more than just a negotiating ploy than it is a bit silly.

I'm sure this is all to do with the PBF match.
Pre fight problem making.

Jaz, this is just like your beef with the PW camp, and my response is the same! Pac's team would not be doing it's job properly if they didn't secure every tiny advantage possible. If you gonna get upset every time someone in boxing is full of bullshit and a complete hypocrite, then be prepared to upset for as long as you're a boxing fan!
Like it or not it's just part of the game. Again, when going into battle you have to try to secure every little advantage possible... And no, I'm not saying I like the methods either, but be a duck, be a duck!
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
I translate this to mean the entire year of 2010 will be spent in negotiations for this fight. Roach is being ridiculous if this is the case, let Manny come in at 145 who cares? But to make his opponents do it? Blasphemy. Maybe he's just concerned with defending the Diamond Belt.
PAC/PBF 2011 !!!

2lbs is a good sh1t where I come from. If manny can come up from Light Flyweight to 145, I don't see 147 making much difference ;)

Holly Crap dude... it's just bargaining man. He's just yanking Floyd's chain. It's the same as Floyd' saying he did one million buys all by himself.
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
This is getting RIDICULOUS!
Why don't we just give Pacquiao all the surrounding belts plus make him some diamond, platinum, ruby belts for good measure. Hell, lets let him win the heavyweight belts at 145.
This is a prime example of why boxing needs a single governing body. With this kind of corruption, no wonder it's faded from mainstream sports. Pacman bringing boxing back? ..Or pushing it further back?
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
The fight should be done at 145 and the winner gets yet another new belt of some kind and Manny has to also put up his 140 and 147 WBO trinkets :)
Purse, 40/40 winner gets the additional 20.
;D
Make this a small ring so Floyd can't run all night. Cotto ran and Manny could not really catch him, so what makes us think he will catch one of the greatest runners of all times?
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
Presently Pacquiao has 2 140 lbs. belts, the Ring and IBO belts aside from his newly acquired 147 belts.
Mayweather made 146 easy without a sweat in his last weigh-in. I think he could make 145 without problems. Pacquiao weigh-in at 144 last time out.
Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is not for any belt, be it the WW or Jr. WW belts. This fight is for the P4P#1 and Fighter of the Decade accolades. Any agreed contracted weight will do and 145 lbs. seems fair and sensible.

Not trying to hate bro but Mayweather did not make it without a sweat. He came 2 pounds over the limit against Marquez therefore had to pay a fined to him... /on another note.. This is ridiculously though Pacquiao is the 147 pound limit champion but has not and does not want to take the risk of fighting the max limit of 147.. smh
Re: Sorry for another Pacquiao thread, but this pissed me off
I've said this before, but I honestly think Freddie Roach gets the sympathy vote sometimes because he has Parkinsons.
He has come accross like a prick at times and talked trash but doesn't seem to get picked up for it.
I made my mind up about him when he said he knew Manny was gonna beat De La Hoya the day after the weigh in when he saw I.V marks in his arms used for rehydration. Basically, knowingly making Oscar come down that low for the reason that he'd be weight drained.
He might as well have said "I wanted Manny to beat a dead body in there" - A very coniving (sp?) move that could have lead to a death in the ring.
