If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
would ricky hatton of had any chance of pulling of the win against Mayweather??
I thought RH was a different animal that night, im not saying he would of won but it would of been a hell of a lot closer than when they fought at the later date...
your thoughts???
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
I agree Ricky was a man possessed, but I still think Floyd would've stopped him
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
Floyd beats Ricky any day, any weight, anywhere.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
Ricky was a different animal because they let him do whatever he wanted. As soon as Ricky is not allowed to wrestle and foul he is not that good.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
i just think Mayweather would have been in for one un-comfortable night
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
First of all Mayweather Jr is 8 years younger than Tszyu, Hatton fought a Tszyu who had 3 rounds in 2 and a half years! Fighting in his own backyard, with a referee who inexplicably forgot the rules of boxing that night Hatton got his biggest win. I also think Hatton has not been the same since that fight, it took a lot out of him. Mayweather would beat Hatton in any fight anywhere, anytime. The Tszyu of 1999-2001 KO's Hatton as easily as Pacquiao did!

Hatton was an animal that night yes, but the ref let him get away with a helluva lot 2!
With the same type of officiating that night, I'd have to say Floyd wins by decision instead of the ko he scored when they fought.

I agree Kostya Tszyu wasn't at his best, but it is overrated how shot he was and at the time no one gave Ricky Hatton a chance.
Kostya Tszyu was a top 5 P4P fighter, and he did recently stop Sharmba Mitchell, quicker than he had done previously.
I just don't think Kostya Tszyu deals well with swarmers, because he needs room to get full power into his power punches, he hasn't really got a good inside game he does his best work at mid-range.
As for the topic i think Ricky Hatton does a little better, but not by much. Floyd Mayweather Jr has a very good and underrated inside game, and swarmers have never bothered Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
i have got to admit, Mayweather is a better inside fighter that hatton, he proved that in their fight.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
Of course the fight would've been different.
Ricky was much fresher then
Billy Graham was also younger
Joe Cortez wouldn't have been ref and so wouldn't have been biased to begin with and wouldn't have been even more biased after the national anthem got booed
Mayweather back then was also a lot smaller
It would have been a very different fight. Would Ricky have won? I dunno. Floyd is a phenominal athlete and pound for pound king.
You can say Tszyu only had done 3 rounds in so many years but lets face it. Sharmba Mitchel was the top of the division then and Kostya rinsed him in 3. That shows the shape and condition Tszyu was in. He was far from passed it. He was looking to beat Rick easily and then move on to bigger things, retiring was not in his thoughts.
To be honest I don't think Ricky has anything to be ashamed of for his performance in vegas.
I think Ricks performance against Floyd will be put into context after Floyd fights Pac.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
Even with Mickey Vann refing Mayweather still beats him easily. In terms of boxing ability Hatton and Mayweather don't belong in the same postcode, never mind the same ring.

Pbf Still Would Have Won, He Will Beat Hitman Any Day. Reason For Dat Is Ricky Hatton Charges You Majority Of Da Time. Thats Perfect For Floyd Due To The Fact That He Likes Out Boxing, And Making You Chase Him...
Dnt Get Me Wrong I Like Hatton He Wus A Beast, And Prob Still Is Only Having His 2 Losses To The 2 Best Fighters Of All Time pbf and pacman.

i didn't know that Robinson and Armstrong kicked Hatton's ass :-X
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
I was actually shocked when Tszyu quit. I thought he was going to edge it out if he took the last round!
It may have been a tougher fight for Floyd, but I think he would have outclassed Hatton just the same.
Re: If it was Mayweather, not Tszyu in the ring that night in Manchester.....
Mayweather would of won the exact same way.
