Mundine thrown out of Green party!
Anthony Mundine was refused access to the Danny Green after party Wednesday night and he must have felt like a dried turd as he walked away.
3 and half years ago he beats Danny Green convincingly, it was a very good performance. In that time he has fought Sam Soliman two more times, a washed up Shannon Taylor and a host of South American cab drivers causing major shortages of Taxi availability in Argentina! How quickly it all turns around in boxing, Mundine has chosen an easy path that none of us know where that path will lead. Green has come back and taken on RJJ and although he is 40 was still regarded as being to slick for Danny Green. Bang goes Green and he KO's RJJ in 1 round, all of a sudden Green is a feared fighter. Hopkins doesn't want to know Green and pretends to not know where Australia is. Green will find it difficult to get fights, who will want to fight him? As for Mundine, he now says he will fight at Junior Middleweight????? I don't think i have ever seen a more mis- managed fighter.
Re: Mundine thrown out of Green party!
I think Green will get a big fight in the future because of this ko I would like to see him and Glen Johnson fight of even Tavoris Cloud would be interesting. And from what I hear Mundine is a cocky douche bag who rubs people the wrong way.

Green won't find it hard to find a big name opponent. Any fighter who upsets a legend will almost immediately get a world title fight.
Look at Amir, he beat Barrera and got a world title shot immediately despite coming of a one round ko loss to an unknown.
Other fighters like Hasim Rahman and arguably Ricky Hatton have gone on to have lengthy careers with multiple world title shots off the back of a single unlikely and high profile win.
Green is massive in Australia and has a huge fanbase there so he will easily negotiate title shot if he wants one, and will probably be able to pursuade them to come to him.
Sure, Hopkins may not want him, but guys like Marco Huck and Zsolt Erdei will likely be happy to sign up for a fight with the Jones Jr killer.
Look at Tarver's career, he's had several high profile fights off the back of his Jones ko win, it got rematches with Jones and Johnson, a title shot against Woods after Hopkins beat him, and even a second chance at Dawson after Dawson beat him comfortably first time around.
My guess is Danny Green will get at least a couple decent fights out of this.

No one wanted to fight him at 168. And he is fighting at 160. And this fight i saw with him at 160 he looked like a weight drained fighter could barely do anything and just barely got the win. He won't be good at 160, he'd be killing himself at 154, 168 is the place to be for him but no one wants to fight him there. If his management was smart they'd get him a fight with Green or something. Not Danny Green, Allan Green.

I dont think Khan beating Barrera had anything to do with getting Kotelnik, it was the fact Kotelnik was getting a very good pay day.

Why does Hopkins still talk up a future fight with Jones jr? Whether Hopkins likes it or not Danny Green is now the man, you don't KO Roy Jones Jr in one round and then believe Bernard Hopkins doesn't care. He cares alright, he could very well be next !
A Hopkins V Jones jr fight should have happened at least 2-3 years ago, it won't happen now unless it is for purely nostalgic reasons. I want Hopkins V Green in Las Vegas in March or April 2010. Roy needs to retire.

Agreed, agreed, agreed! What Danny did is great for himself and boxing in Australia but to claim he is the man now... Very questionable claim:rolleyes:

I totally agree, especially with Hatton, Danny should get some big fights now, his manager is already talkin about F**in moving to heavyweight and fighting Hollyfeild, Tyson and the like.
Not sure about that personly, he just beat one over the hill burnout, no need for any more.

Pavlik is starting to work on it--mismanagement, I mean.

Afight against Green in Aussie land would be a monster fight with a mega purse. Daeson lacks charisma.

"cocky douche bag" may be redundant! :o
Re: Mundine thrown out of Green party!
I think Green's win may have made a fight with Hopkins impossible. Why would Hopkins want to fight a fit, strong guy and a very live underdog?
Similarly Dawson, why would he want to go near Green?
Unless we're underestimating how much exposure the Green/Jones fight got in the states. I know it screened as part of the Hopkins fight, but seriously how many viewers would that fight have got? Hopkins in a tune up against a bloke with 5 losses, hell the live gate was only 6000 in his home town...
I think the best Green will do out of this is a shot at maybe an alphabet title holder, which he'll probably win. Then he'll be in exactly the same position he was in in December 2007 when he 'retired' after beating Stipe Drews - except he'll be two years older.
I think if Green's camp starts negotiating for a fight with Dawson or Hopkins, those guys will make it untenable and demand ridiculous money. And the only way Green could offer that kind of money would be to bring them down under, which I don't think either of those guys would do...
Hard to believe, but I can actually see this win not doing Danny much good at all...:-\
