Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
Glyn Leach who is the editor of the British baced Boxing Monthly said in his editorial
"But were Pacquiao to beat Mayweather,he could realistically become reguarded as the greatest fighter ever."
I know all the Pac haters will start throwing the insults when they read this but the point is Glyn Leach is a leading boxing writer where as a lot of the posters on here are just irational ranters .
I for 1 agree with Leach's view.;D
Re: Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
It would be hard to argue that he wasn't based purely on who he's fought and beat.
I don't think his loses make any difference. Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson both lost a few.
Ali had his best years stolen and you could argue that he was already on the slide when he lost to Fraiser.
Robinson had to fight the mob and an irrational desire to be a dancer, which may explain away some of his early-ish loses.
Pac might just have the better resume of wins, but this argument can never be won in any fighters favour.
Re: Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
I'm not sure whether he would be considered as the greatest in he beats Mayweather but there would definitely be an argument for him being up there
Re: Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
It will be an argument with merit, IMHO, regardless of how the Pacquiao haters here will view it as otherwise. Most especially here? Yeah... it is here where his achievements, along with his fans, are most ridiculed and treated with disrespect like it is the next big thing.
I guess appreciation for his achievements will come much later when he has retired and the knuckleheads have duly found new grey matter so as to allow for an appreciation of this kind.

i wouldn't say he's THE best but he would definitely be among them, if he manages to beat Floyd i say he'd have to be in the top 10 ATG no doubt, just don't think you can compare his accomplishments to Robinson's, Armstrong's, Ali's or Louis, but there's no denying he would be the best of our generation
Re: Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
Pacquiao is a great fighter as it stands. I've come to accept that he's pretty good on the back of the two Barrera wins, Morales 2, Hatton and Cotto. I still think there are question marks surrounding Marquez, but every fighter has someone that gives them a tough night or two. If he beats Mayweather, which I sincerely hope he does, then his name will only go even higher. I don't know what it means to be the best ever considering all the variables at play when considering cross generational analysis, but he will surely be considered pretty darn good.
Re: Boxing Monthly editor think Pacquiao could become greatest boxer of all time!
with a victory over mayweather jr. there's no doubt pacquiao will be one of the top two or three fighters in this decade but to say he would be the greatest fighter of all-time is really wishful thinking. for one, like any other great fighter, there are holes in pacquiao's resume. sure he's come up impressively and beaten heavier fighters but were those fighters on the decline or overrated at best? the facts are these, the fighters of yesteryear didn't have the luxury to pick and choose easier opponents because there was only one world title per division along with only 8 weight divisions. sure pacquiao holds the record for 7 world titles but look how many are there in each division? not to mention there are more than twice the divisions (17) currently as the original eight. a victory over mayweather would put pacquiao no higher than maybe 18-20ish. if he wants to further his p4p standing he should fight a few more years and have at least 80 fights like the oldies used to do it.

How can you not compare his achievements to Armstrong, I mean they have basically done exactly the same thing. Henry Amstrong is the first person I think of when assessing Manny's acomplishments.
I personally think if Manny were to beat Floyd he's number 3 all time behind Robinson and Ali.
He would clearly have surspassed Armstrong who held world titles at three weights simultaneously, and his resume would be above Ray Leonard and Duran as well. Joe Luis for me was a beneficiary of a lousy heavyweight scene, Vitali Klitschko had he not had injuries could have replicated what Louis did with ease and rack up 20+ plus defences.
I think Manny is in the top 10 all time right now and a win over Floyd would be immense.
What's interesting for me though is where do we place Floyd if he beats Manny?
He'd have to be knocking on the door of the 10 best fighters ever himself imo.
