Mayweather Pacquiao fight negotiations starting to crumble
Ringside Report "The Heart Of Boxing"
According to Team Pacquiao in early negotiations, they put in a $1 Million per pound penalty above the proposed contracted welterweight limit of 147lbs. According to this article, Mayweather is now apparently threatening to pull out if he doesn't get more "wiggle room".
It's anybody's guess as to what "wiggle room" actually means.

You really think that Pacquiao is a Bitch? They don't need it in the contract if they actually follow the rules and have the Title fight in Las Vegas. If Mayweather weighs-in 1 pound above the limit 148 lbs he forfeits the fight as noted below and can loose up to 25% of his purse. $25M*.25= $5 Million. Now aint that a Bitch!
FYI -
Nevada Athletic Commission:
NAC 467.522 Forfeiture for failure to make weight. (NRS 467.030) 1. An unarmed combatant who fails to make the weight agreed upon in his bout agreement forfeits:
(a) Twenty-five percent of his purse if no lesser amount is set by the Commission’s representative; or
(b) A lesser amount set by the Executive Director and approved by the Commission,
Ê unless the weight difference is 1 pound or less.
2. A forfeit must be divided equally between the other unarmed combatant and the Commission.
3. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3 of NAC 467.476 and subsection 2 of NAC 467.7956, if, during the 1 hour following the time of weighing in, an unarmed combatant is able to make the weight or weighs 1 pound or less outside the agreed limits, no forfeit may be imposed or fine assessed upon him.
[Athletic Comm’n, § 17, eff. 4-25-78]—(NAC A 12-13-82; 11-2-88; 12-2-97; R070-01, 8-31-2001; R090-07, 12-4-2007)

You must love Jose Luis Castillo after he kayoed Corrales in the 2nd fight.
Re: Mayweather Pacquiao fight negotiations starting to crumble
For once I'm actually reasonably confident that the fight will get made. There's going to be all kinds of ridiculous back and forth like this before it gets signed, but with the money involved there is no way it doesn't happen sooner or later.

No. Mayweather is. Look what he did with Marquez. They don't want it to happen for a meaningless amount of money. If he's not professional enough to make a weight he should have no troubles to make, he has no business with that fight.
Re: Mayweather Pacquiao fight negotiations starting to crumble
lol, what the heck does floyd need weight-wiggle room for! this fight will be at 147 lbs, the same weight he came in against Marquez a few months ago .

Agreed. Mayweather has no respect for contracts, the only way to make him listen is to seriously hit him in the pocket. It sounds about right.

Most definitely, especially as it's a weight class he's not supposed to struggle with. it's just a good insurance policy to avoid that he'll skim 600 000 to have, just like with Marquez, 15-20 pounds advantage.
Re: Mayweather Pacquiao fight negotiations starting to crumble
the fight won't crumble. Both guys are guaranteed 20 mil each and that's not even factoring the PPV revenues. As everyone has said, too much money for it not to happen. Little details here and there are being ironing out. No biggie.

During his match with Marquez according to many analysts, especially considering FLoyd refused to get weighted the day of the fight to mask that fight. Some think it's more around 10-12 but to the eye, I would lean more for around 15 like many of these observers and personally I think 20 pounds is exaggerated too, but to say 10-15 pounds is more than likely and possible.
Re: Mayweather Pacquiao fight negotiations starting to crumble
don't get what everyone's getting worked up about, this is all here say on both parts, just more negotiation bullshit

Actually mate, he didn't allow HBO to weigh him, both fighters allowed NSAC to weigh them on the night. Both weights were in the last edition of Ring Magazine, Marquez was 146 on the night, Mayweather was 152. 6 lbs is still too much for my liking, but it's nowhere near what you're saying
