My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
This is NOT another irrational hate thread (yet)
Infact, I think i've just about got over my irrational hate for the Klitschko's.
The problems was/ is that no one is going to beat these guys. And the problem with that is, they won't provide us with a Mega-Fight because with regards to all the other contenders, there is such great a disparity in size or skill.
The only way there will ever be a Mega-Fight in the Heavyweight division is if these two Brothers actually squared up or if they both retired and stayed retired long enough for any potential future match-up's not to have a direct relation to either them (common opponents etc.)
As it stands now, the the division is missing will always be missing something so long as there is ZERO chance of it's two best fighters fighting each other.
Thats why i threw up in my mouth when i heard Vitali was comming back :-X
Outside of that, iv'e come to appreciate them as individuals.
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
can't really blame them if everyone else is crap.:-\
The interesting thing about Haye is that he may just be coming along at the right time. :-\
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
If the heavyweights we have right now (bar the Klitschko's) took training seriously then obviously there would be GREAT fights for the Klitschko's and their opponents would be dangerous and prepared for a true title fight.
The guys right now are just happy to get a shot, Kevin Johnson didn't try to beat Vitali, Cris Arreola based on his physical shape was not prepared to win a title, and although Eddie Chambers seems prepared for Wlad, he's just too damn small. Alexander Povetkin and Denis Boytsov are looking good but they lack the "it factor" you look for in a top heavyweight.
The Klitschko's have the same problem Lennox Lewis had at the end of his reign, they have no equals in the ring, no one even close
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
This is the way i look at it, if we didn't have the Klitschko brothers. Imagine how bad the Heavyweight division would look now ?

It would look bad, but strangely also more competitive. Haye v. Johnson and Arreola v. Povetkin are competitive fights.
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
Competitive is the key word.

Alot of his fights wern't that competitive either, exactly the same with Lennox Lewis. Although both did prove they could stand in there and fight when they needed to, Wladimir Klitschko has never shown me that. And even Vitali Klitschko at times is a bit too cautious.
I doubt i'll ever be a fan of either guy, but again i can't blame them. They do what they have to do against the opposition there given, although i think at times especially Wladimir Klitschko, they could finish fights more spectacular to get people talking.
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
boring...one dimensional...not prepared to take risks...extremely bland
Everything that heavyweight boxing has never really had. Cant help but think its both that they are just both too good and well skilled to bother having an entertaining fight.
Only time vitali has been in a watchable contest was against lennox and thats only because he was in with a world class fighter
Id very much like to see haye send both of these into retirement!!

No it wasn't LOL but i think i did word that wrong, what im basically saying is that even though Larry Holmes did have better opposition. And was more exciting, he like the Klitschko brothers struggled to find opposition especially in the 80's.
And thats why he got so much hate, even though he couldn't help it. He got alot of stick for fighting bums, not being exciting. Not being like Muhammad Ali ETC.
Although in recent years like Lennox Lewis he's got more appeciated. Maybe that will happen for the Klitschko brothers if they continue to reign without losing.
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
This Klitschko hate is obviously thinly veiled racism. Fact.

I can definitely agree with you to an extent.
As you've said with regards to the likes of Holmes & Lewis: You can only beat what is on front of you.
The point I make is that, while Lewis & Holmes were both the 'man' in their respective eras, this era is yet to have a definitive Champion. Which is a frustrating scenario when you consider the potential of a mega fight akin to as any Mega-a-fight as you care to mention along with clearly defining a division.

To be fair jim, what more does vitali have to dto prove himself as this eras definitive champion??
Re: My Irrational Hate for the Klitschko Bos.
Well there are a lot of people who would call Wladimir the man of the Heavyweights.
He has the IBF, WBO & IBO straps, has been a champion for a combined total of 7 years and has beaten more world champions, made more defences and beaten more former title challengers than his brother.
On top of that, he is the better boxer skills of the two and posses more athletic ability.
These are valid points but are meaningless all the same as there are and will ALWAYS be TWO men sitting at the No.1 spot.... Which is really unfortunate IMO.
