Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
Apparently he wants to spend more time with his kids.
When I first starting reading Boxing News around 1999 it was a pile of wank and with Claude at the helm has become the best boxing magazine out there, wonder how this will effect the format for the future?
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
this is a massive shame. any idea who is in the running to take over?

Tris Dixon is the new man in charge.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
Thats a shame as Claude seemed to know what he is on about and he is a very aprochable bloke if you ever meet him.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
Read his goodbye write up in Boxing Weekly, really good stories of meeting fighters and travelling.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
Good, job, he had no more knowledge or insight in to boxing than some on here but he had an open forum, hes the reason I stopped buying the mag 2 years ago:rolleyes:

I used to see him on the Underground every morning as he lived in my manor, very approachable and a nice fella who knows his shit backwards:cool:
BIG Loss for the mag.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
Was a bit gutted at Tris Dixon taking over. I assumed the Mag would pull someone in.
Ah well, time will tell.

Can you explaine again why you stopped getting the mag.
Was it the lack of knowledge or this open forum you mentioned.
Not trying to be funny its just its not clear to me what you mean.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
What I mean by him having an open forum is the magazine.
People buy it and see all the articals by different writers but at the end of it all, they are only seeing Claudes opinion, oif he doesnt agree with something it wont go in.
As far as I know, he doesnt have any more claim to being a qualified boxing spokesman than anyone in here;)
This sounds pathetic but as someone who would call themself a fan of Mike Tyson, I was getting fed up of reading all the little tit bits theyd put in, mostly bad stuff.
I talk with someone that is a very close neighbour and friend of Mikes and his old management and emailes Claud some very recent good things Mike had done (after he filed for bankruptcy, he sold his Bently for $300,000 and donated the money to a local kids heart hospital) and some interesting old stories that werent public knowledge.
Neither went in but the next week some more craap about Mike went in:rolleyes:
I bet alot of people emailed him with bits and pieces that would have made the mag a more interesting read, also the price went up something like %30 over a couple of years and just got too expensive a luxury everyweek to pay fopr stuff I can find on the internet already.
Re: Claude Abrams steps down as Boxing News Editor
I was gutted when I heard. Tris is decent, but Claude was a really decent guy with alot of boxing knowledge. I hope they don't change things too much. Also hope Danny Flexon continues forward, the guy is an quality writer.
