Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
Pinoy Boxing Republic - GMANews.TV Sports
bit foolish of oscar if the quotes in this article is correct, saying pacs punches felt like the likes of vargas's and moslyey's ... especially considering they would have all had varieing levels of power anyway and were on different drugs... mosley on EPO and vargas on stanazolol (sp?)
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
You're right, maybe not the smartest career move for Oscar to get involved in all of this, but he does make some good points about the tattoos, etc. Basically he's just saying what every true boxing fan wants (bias aside). Lets make sure that the biggest fight in boxing history is fair. Being scarred of needles is no excuse to throw away a 30-40 million dollar payday. If he does that, then his career and his (so-called) physical gifts deserve to come under scrutiny.
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
Hmm, that's funny Oscar. I distinctly remember you saying during the Hatton Pac pre fight promotion that Pac's punches didn't hurt you. Now you're saying they did!
Could that have anything to do with the fact that GBP promoted Hatton at the time and are now acting on behalf of Mayweather?
Come on Pac, just agree to take the god damn fucking tests!

I would agree with him though in the fight he never looked hurt by any shots or in trouble of going down he did though just have nothing to fire back with and the quanity of shots did him in..
Oscar has a great beard...he has been down but never out by a head shot and it took Hopkins to stop him and it was to the body...
That especially says a lot considering the resume of Oscar
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
Oscar has to put pressure on to make this fight go through, don't forget via GBP he stands to make a ton of cash as well.
Plus by making these statements he is not really in any danger of losing credibility, IF Pac tests negative, then he just punches
as hard as the other two mentioned no big deal. IF Pac tests positive well then ODLH has an excuse to use to
discredit his blowout loss. IF Pac refuses to test as required (not that 30 day and after the fight BS) then he still can fly the
flag of suspicion.
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
Really, this should be a case of Mayweather opening a can of worms and triggering a requirement of all boxers taking blood tests.
Boxing is the only professional sport where the object is to knock your opponent unconscious, so obviously someone with an unfair advantage should rightfully be banned for life.
Roy Jones, Shane Mosely, James Toney, Fernando Vargas and Evander Holyfield are the most recognisable names that come to mind when talking about drug cheats and have all been allowed to compete and even win titles after either testing positive or being under suspision, they shouldnt have been allowed, they knew they were doing the worse they could.,
Mike Tyson said of Toney who got caught twice that "He turned his body in to a weapon" which is true and Manny looks a cock now for not speaking out on all this other than to refuse point blabnk to any serious drug testing.
We have Evander Holyfield v Frans Botha coming up soon, Botha was stripped of his IBF title in 96 (Ithink) for steroid use and Holyfield doesnt need explaing to those who have read all the evidence, how these two are still allowed to compete is a joke, lets test these two as well, I bet they both fail, every boxer should be tested.
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
As if the fight wasn't humiliating enough for Oscar, when they find out Pacquiao is not on steroids its going to make Oscar want to eat his tounge!

The fact that Pac was almost 2 pounds heavier on fight night than ODLH, despite being the naturally smaller man shows you how fucked Oscar was from dehydrating so much... Even hydrated he was past his peak... considering what happened to Hatton and Cotto he doesn't really have that much to be humiliated about.
He had to use an IV drip to get fluids back into himself and managed to rehydrate back up to 148, a whopping pound... he was fucked.
edit: Slightly off with my numbers:
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/8730/oscarpac.jpg
But the fact still remains that a man who has fought as high at 160 pounds and spent years at 154 pounds only managing to hydrate back to 147 pounds when most natural Welters are rehydrating back to 160... sometimes even 170 shows you just how fucked Oscar was.
Good win for Pac, but pacfiles need to stop going to crazy over it.

I agree on all of this. Holyfield is my favorite HW of recent times, but it's hard for me or any Holy fan to defend his victories over Tyson and 2nd career resurgence in the mid to late 90s without any sort of suspicion.
Re: Oscar chimes in on steroids debate
This is such a baseless argrument. Nevada has the best drug testing of any commision in the US. Manny has NEVER failed a test and has fought almost all of his fights in Vegas. Look at how often those UFC/MMA fighters keep getting caught with steroids. I'm very disapointed in Oscar for these comments (but not suprised) I thought he might show a little integrity. Vargas was on roids and failed the test. Why is it that if Manny was on roids when he fought Oscar he didn't get caught? I'm discussed by Oscars sour grapes comments here and have lost some respect for him becasue of it.

You, like most of the general public, obviously don't have very much knowledge concerning the use of PEDs. Urine tests, such as the ones run by "the best drug testing" commission in Nevada are quite easily beatable, if you know what you're doing. As is a single pre-scheduled blood test (because you can get the drugs out of your system while the effects remain). Doctors and scientists have testified to these facts. They are indisputable. This is why random blood testing is necessary for both MWvPac and the future of boxing. Do you want the sport we love to end up a roid-inflated joke like WWE?
That being said though... it's a pity that it might cost us one of the biggest fights in history for random blood testing to be considered necessary in this sport.

Now that's just BS!
Every guy can claim he has the bigger dick! You have to whip it out and prove it! Blood testing has it's purpose and urine testing has it purpose. The Nevada's boxing portion of the commission has it testing designed for boxing. MLB has it's testing designed for baseball. The NFL for football. The Olympics has it's testing designed for 1000's and sub procedures for each sport. You can't say one is better than the other because they are not the same. Expert testify about a lot of stuff. You have to be specific when you accuse someone of using because so much shit is taken out of context. With the Olympics, you have competitors being thrown out for using asma inhalers and medals being taken away for using vick's vapor rub. Because of MLB supplements that aren't even steroids have made the banned list passed by congress and that's because they don't know what the fuk it is. All have their budgets and are going to be limited by the resources made available to them under their budget.

The NSAC defers to the WADA for a complete banned substances list.
