Anti-fight thread

Apparently there is a breakdown in negotiations in some big fight between a couple of pussies who's initials are MP and FM. So this thread has been started for all the people who don't want to see or hear the names of those two whining prima donnas until the fight date, venue and drug testing procedure are set in stone.

I'm over it. It's ridiculous.

If boxing can find a way for this fight not to happen I swear, I am never watching another fight again. This sport has jobbed me before, but if this thing doesn't go ahead I am no longer a boxing fan.


This is hopefully my last post on the subject.

I would love to see this fight. In fact, I can't think of a fight I have ever wanted to see more. However, I have been sick of all the hype and bullshit surrounding since about 15 minutes after Pacquaio beat Cotto. It's going to go on for a while though.

Alright since you've been so honest. Here's where I stand on the issue:

I'm ALWAYS a boxing fan before I'm a Mayweather fan, and I honestly believe this sport needs better testing methods. I'm sick of wondering if the best athlete is just the best cheater. If I need to sacrifice this gem of a fight for it to happen, then so be it.

That being said though, I do want to see this fight more than any other right now, and I would like to see it clean and without doubt.

But if this fight can't be made and then Bob Arum tries to charge me $50 to watch MP v Paulie Malignaggi or Richard Schaefer tries to charge me $50 to watch FM v Matthew Hatton, well then I will love the sport no more I'm afraid.

For crappy fights and matchups.

Lets put it this way, im a big kostya tszyu fan. If he had of declined any drug test then i would of assumed the same thing that im assuming with pac...that there is something to hide. I think there needs to be better drug testing in boxing...PERIOD!!! I dont care whos fighting, i dont care if its two guys with a record of 0-1 fighting...it should be mandatory that all fighters are tested 30 days before, right before the fight and after the fight.

If boxing fans cant see this or want this then please stop being boxing fans. These tests can only help our sport.

Well said the whole thing is out of control and makes the sport look like a joke

The greed of people is just horrific to see when there is money to be involved, the leech lawyers, oily alphabet boys, the gimp hanger on's, makes me sick of the sport i love.

Its an interesting argument now. I personally have to wonder how big a role it would all play if everyone was outted and forced clean. Would there be a drop off in potential superstars to keep the sport going.
It definitely seems as though the cumulative average talent level has dropped from the good old days that many of us remember. It used to be that special fighters would come along a lot more frequently. Fighters of freakish one punch power or speed or undeniable heart. Or a pretty good mixed bag.
The heavyweights are run now by guys of freakish size, muscle mass and physical stature that fight to snoozefest decisions or steamroll guys that cant compete with thier physical gifts. The lower weights are dominated by volume punchers that throw plenty of combinations but have no power, but have the stamina to throw high volume numbers in the last couple of rounds, but there are very few throwback fighters that win fights on exclusive skill, stylings, guile or masterfully conceived and executed game plans.
It would be interesting to see which way the sport falls if doping is completely erased. Does't it become more interesting because guys work harder to be champions? or does it become more boring when a guy like Mayweather or Pacquaio (if theyre clean) wind up so far ahead of their competition that theres nobody left.? Do fighters that seem promising or could be above average fighters, automatically become king when fighting at just 70% or do they sink because they have to work too hard now and their confidence is lost without the juice? (or plasterwraps or whatever other unnatural advantage they were hiding?)
