Speaking of testing positive...........
I must have missed this, many of us saw Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs land a crushing body blow stoppage against Marcus McGee on the Coleman/Arnaoutis undercard. I was check on his boxrec page to see if they had announced who he was going to be fighting on FNF, and to my surprise his upcoming bout was canceled and his last bout was changed to a No Contest as Briggs had "Tested Positive for illegal substances".
Does anyone know what happened here? I had no idea about it.
Re: Speaking of testing positive...........
Wow, I am kind of surprised about this....maybe it was used to quell his asthma issues.
Shannon Briggs also said he got down to like 240 before the fight but gained weight back to feel at full strength
Re: Speaking of testing positive...........
I made a few researches, very little about it and all leading to the Boxrec forum. It's incredible that the Pac-Mayweather circus made so much noise that a breaking news of such "importance" did pass under silence.

That makes some sense to me. I know my girlfriend sometimes used to have to take take steroid-type medication because of her asthma.

I was kind of poking fun of Shannon with that comment, if I'm not mistaken they are different kinds of steroids. I mean you wouldn't give someone a NC because they were on prednizone which is a steroid...I think they just look for a certain kind of steroid.
Re: Speaking of testing positive...........
Not sure what it was.Briggs has been popped before for puffing on de Ganja though ?Who knows.

Shows what I know then. I was just speculating.

I really wanted Shannon to do well so he could get his ass whupped by Wladimir Klitschko!!!
How the hell do you test positive for pot after a fight?!?!?!? I mean come on 1 month or 2 TOPS and it's out of your system.

And why would anyone be penalized for smoking pot prior to a fight? If anything it puts them at a distinct disadvantage.
Re: Speaking of testing positive...........
I heard of a fighter who took a fight on short notice and alerted the athletic commission that he'd been smoking, won and then they declared the fight a NC after he tested positive.
I wonder if there is a standard suspension period for weed. Maybe if Shannon lays off it he can get back in the mix by this time next year.
