Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
If it happens Cotto spanks that.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
Yeah it would make sense alright, not a chance Hatton fights a big puncher though, more likely he'll fight at 147 against some moving up as well.

Wouldnt be suprised mate he will ask for someone to move up to accomadate him, but Id love these two to get it on.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
IMO Cotto hurts Hatton worse than Pacquiao, due to the fact that Pacquiao did it was basically one shot, Cotto will break Hatton down (especially at 147) and will hit him cleanly over and over until stopping him, possibly seriously hurting him, that's the main reason i wouldn't wanna see this fight, although it'd be an awesome fight to have in MSG or Yankee Stadium atmosphere would be insane
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
I always believed Rick's best chance against Cotto was at 140lbs, around about the time Cotto fought Torres. Cotto at that time was showing all the signs of a fighter struggling make the LW limit. For me Cotto looked drained, his punch resistance was lacking, his cardio in question, and if ever Rick was to beat Cotto, that was the time.
I really dont think that Rick can be any sort of force at WW, he just cannot make the transition. He doesnt have the frame to move effectively up through the weights, thats been proven. Also Rick's advantage at LW was his strength, apart from the limited Urango, Rick had been alot stronger than any of his opponets in that division, including Tszyu.
WW are the wrong waters for Hatton, too deep. You have to fancy Cotto heavily at 147lbs. Rick will be fighting at 147lbs for all the wrong reasons in my opinion. Knowing Ray Hatton the way I do, it's a certainty that if Rick fights at 147lbs, it will be against a naturally smaller fighter.
If Rick is going to have a swansong, then my pick would be Juan Diaz at 140lbs. It would make for a very entertaining fight, and a fight that even at this stage of his career, shouldnt cause him too many problems.

Thanks for your views Jimmy, but if im honest id rather he not come back than fight Diaz who is crap and is not a 140 fighter. Id seriously rather have him fight Witter than Diaz.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
Yeah, there's no way he can fight Cotto. He's only coming back for the money so he'll want somebody small with a big name like JMM that he can bully and not get sparked again.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
Would be a hell of a war! but i would recon Cotto gets Hatton out of there by the 5th.There both past there best put Cotto is to strong for Hatton.Years ago i would of give Hatton a advantage at 140lb but not at 147lb.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
This is actually one fight where I could justify a catchweight to make it more fair. No belts or bullshit involved just a good fan fight.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
Hatton wouldn't last more than 5 or 6 rounds against Cotto. It would be an ugly, one-sided fight.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
Whoever sanctions a fight of Hatton-Cotto should be charge with attempted murder. Cotto although not at his best anymore, still has more than enough to hurt Hatton.
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
I agree with general consensus that this would be a very dangerous fight for Hatton... I mean literally dangerous for his well being.

Hatton dominated Paulie and Cotto got a tough fight from Paulie. Styles make a difference
Re: Has to be Hatton v Cotto
I still have a yearning for a Hatton vs Bradley but this would be a superb fight.I'm not ready to sell Cotto down the river and put him on the scrap heap following his wars with Margarito and Pacquiao.Encounters such as those can tax any fighter beyond a physical toll but he has much more in the tank than Hatton right now.Much more skilled and well rounded fighter and maybe a touch of slippage...maybe...but has more of a buffer than a worn and freshly starched Hatton.Difference in pedigree obvious.I think Cottos improved boxing would shine with a frontal and hook prone Hatton and he would have a nice convincing rebound victory come the late rounds.
