winky wants fight with pavlik
the rumors been going on for some time now wright is the most avoided fighter in boxing. pavlik gota stop making excuses and be a real champ and step up. if the fight dosent go through with martinez there should be no reason he should not take the fight with wright. and if that dosent happen we all know pavlik is cherry picking his opponents, miguel espino is a great proof
Re: winky wants fight with pavlik
I'm a huge fan of Winky Wright, but he hasn't been a relevant fighter since he chose to fight Hopkins instead of taking the Taylor rematch. He's bordering on gate-keeper status at this point.
Pavlik - Martinez/Williams is a much more marketable fight than Pavlik - Winky.

I am starting to think the same think about Pavlik lately. He has been inactive and hasn't had a real fight since B-Hop destroyed him. Battle of the inactives.

Fair enough, but Pavlik still brings his middleweight belts to the table. Winky has nothing that really makes him marketable. All he had was his name and that isn't much anymore.
Re: winky wants fight with pavlik
Yea sadly I doubt Winky is ever going to win another meaningful fight, the guy has basically squandered his earning potential since fighting Taylor, which is a shame since I believe he didn't take the rematch in the first place due to money. I could be wrong about that, but to instead move up 10 pounds to fight Hopkins was an awful career choice. Then he doesn't fight for over a year(or longer?) and comes back at 160 against Paul Williams without a tuneup. I think he is just to stubborn for his own good and will only hope to spuradically land a big name opponent rather then take a couple of sensible tune ups and get himself in the best form he can. He really can't be considered in the mix unless he does dedicate himself to the sport again, but I doubt it will happen now. To bad really, he was far from washed up before he fought Hopkins, but I think he just lost his desire somewhere around then.

I tend to forget that he's a unified champion myself. One more thing that just occurred to me: despite his recent track record, Pavlik also a much more exciting fighter than Winky. That's another asset he has.
