Humberto Soto - David Diaz on the Pacquiao - Clottey undercard
Soto-Diaz added in Dallas | Boxing News
Could be a decent scrap. You've got to think Soto should handle Diaz, but stranger things have happened...
Re: Humberto Soto - David Diaz on the Pacquiao - Clottey undercard
I have a hard time imagining this fight will be even remotely competitive. Soto is going to absolutely destroy Diaz.

I thought it was Juan Diaz?

I dont know about that Greg, Diaz has fought as high as 147 and has only been stopped by Holt and Pac, Soto has always campaigned at lower weights, maybe Diaz is bit past it but I dont think Soto stops him.
This is looking like a good card:
Duddy-Medina
Margarito-Jones
Gomez-Castillo
Soto-Diaz
Pac-Clottley
I think Margarito will fight the winner of Gomez/Castillo which im pretty certain will be Gomez.

Past it? He never had it, he's slow and one dimensional. He got a gift against a post Pac-shot Morales, and when there were the three Diaz's with lightweight straps he was the joke of the bunch. David is a nice guy and has heart, but he absolutely doesn't have the skill level to be considered in the top tier. Soto is smaller sure, but he has the heart and will of a lion.
Castillo is shot he's been shot for a long time, he also got a gift against Ngoudjo en route to getting pummeled by Hatton. His legs are gone.
Margarito's fight is contingent on getting his license back, which based on public reaction and by boxing journalists around the world is not a guarantee.
I'm really not that excited for these fights.

Well maybe he has never had it but he has slowed down especially in the Chavez win, but I suppose what you mean by destroy I cant see Soto stopping him no chance, I think it will be about 116-112 Soto.

We'll wait and see, my money is on Diaz's corner throwing in the towel when he's all bloodied and has no answers in the mid rounds.
Re: Humberto Soto - David Diaz on the Pacquiao - Clottey undercard
unless something unforseen happens in this fight, i can't see diaz beating soto or even making it halfway competitive. diaz was once a decent fighter who got lucky to hold of the those ABC trinkets but against Soto he's going to be vastly outclassed, outgunned and it wouldn't surprise me if either soto wins a UD by shutout or diaz quits or his corner throws in the towel in the later rounds. one things for sure, this fight has the making of reaching the later rounds because as limited as diaz is, he is known for taking a good punch and being durable!

Soto didn't even look that good against Chavez, IMO the only reason that a Soto-D. Diaz fight would be remotely competitive is because the move up to 135 wasn't such a good idea from Soto himself
Re: Humberto Soto - David Diaz on the Pacquiao - Clottey undercard
When all is said and done, it is quite scary to think that David Diaz lasted almost as long as Cotto did against Pac. I have done my share of berating Diaz, but he deserved a little more respect than that. He's always had a pretty good beard even if he is limited in almost all other areas. Maybe that was before Pac had learned to juice properly, who knows. It's strange how Pac has mutated since Marquez 2....I digress.
The undercard has some names on it for sure. I have absolutely no desire to see Margarito back in the ring though. Hopefully the audience will take bricks with them and throw them at his head. That'll teach him a lot more than a temporary ban, the man should be up for attempted manslaughter.
Re: Humberto Soto - David Diaz on the Pacquiao - Clottey undercard
Soto has been looking weighty and a bit winded in spots...he can be boxed and way to uppercut happy.Diaz cannot box or move worth his weight, soaks up punches like a bukkake star and best chance is getting Soto to over sell on his offense, stand in front to long.Even then I dont see him hurting Soto.Diaz frankly lucky to have the opportunity.

According to Bernstein. It's the technique.
"It was not power that made the difference. The difference was speed, ring generalship, combination punching, and a vastly improved defense.” -Al Bernstein
