Re: How our rankings work
Rules for Champions.
1. For a new champion to be crowned one of the following events has to take place:
a) A fighter defeats an existing champion
b) If the Championship spot is vacant and the #1 ranked and #2 ranked fighters fight
the winner automatically becomes the Champion.
c) If the Championship spot is vacant and the #1 ranked fights #3-#5 ranked fighters it will be considered to determine whether the bout is deemed worthy of championship status.
d) If the #1 Ranked Fighter from one weight class challenges the #1 Fighter from another weight class, it will be considered to determine if it merits Championship status.
2. Stripping the Championship title, one of the following events must take place:
a) A Champion loses in their title weight class.
b) A Champion does not defend their title within a year. A 6-month extension may be granted.
c) A fighter announces he will be retiring or permanently moving to another weight class.
Rules for Ranked Fighters.
1. Obtaining a ranked status, to gain a rank one of the following events has to take place:
a) If a fighter beats a higher ranked fighter they take their spot.
b) Vacancies may be filled by pool members based on their recent performances OR the winner of a chosen fight may take the spot.
c) If a ranked fighter defeats a lower ranked fighter it will be considered whether or not the winner merits moving up one or two places.
d) If a fighter ranked champion down to #5 loses, the severity of the loss will determine whether the fighter drops 1-3 places.
e) If a fighter ranked #6-#10 loses, the severity of the loss will determine how far the fighter drops. Straight to the pool will also be an option. If the loss was to a higher ranked fighter the option to not be demoted will also apply.
f) An inactive or poor performing fighter maybe demoted once a month.
2. Maintaining Ranked Status, to keep a ranked status Ranked Fighters must do the following:
a) If a ranked fighter does not fight within a year a six month extension maybe granted, or else the fighter is dropped to the pool. If the fighter loses his next fight in the extension period he maybe removed straight to the pool. If the extension period ends the fighter is dropped to the pool.
b) If a fighter has no wins over a two-year period they maybe granted a six month extension, or else the fighter is dropped to the pool. If the fighter loses his next fight in the extension period he maybe removed straight to the pool. If the extension period ends the fighter is dropped to the pool.
3. Sliding vacancy system.
a) If a Ranked fighter loses his spot due to inactivity, retirement or moving weight classes all Ranked fighters below him move up in rank leaving the vacancies at the bottom of the ranked list.
Rules for Pool Members.
The pool was established to facilitate fighters that are just outside of the ranks; as such they have priority to earn a ranked status over unranked fighters.
1. Reasons for entry into the pool:
a) A fighter dropped from the rankings for any reason enters the pool.
b) An unranked fighter that has potential to be ranked may be considered to enter the pool.
NOTE: Pool worth varies from weight class to weight class.
c) Two unranked fighters with potential to be ranked fighters have a fight; the winner of said contest may be considered to enter the pool.
d) A ranked fighter from another weight class OR pool moves to a new weight class he enters in the pool.
e) An unranked fighter defeats a pool member.
2. Reasons for pool classification removal:
a) A fighter beats a ranked fighter he becomes reclassified as a ranked fighter.
b) A fighter is inactive for over a year.
c) A loss while in the pool will be considered to determine whether the fighter should maintain pool status or be relegated to unranked status.
d) A fighter that shows an inability to make weight may be moved to another pool.
Rules for unranked fighters.
Unranked fighters make up the remainder of the fighters in a division (those that are active, but not classified as Champions, Ranked fighters or Pool Members)
1. For Unranked fighters to become reclassified they must do one of the following things:
a) Defeat a ranked fighter or pool member.
b) Perform well to gain pool entry.
