What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Out of interest what do you guys make of him. I've watched a couple of his fights, in particular the Manfredy fight. Just interested on hearing other peoples view on the guy, aside from his sharp shooting that is.....
He's back in action on the 12th March against Ivan Fioretta. He was trained by Pernell Whitaker last year, anyone know if this is still accurate?
Anyone any links for his fights, pretty limited whats out there??? PM me....
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
IMO Paul has been over hyped...he has fought second rate bums and has caught guys at the right time...He has not one legit fighter on his resume...
His team scouts opp very very carefully...Paul is a nobody...Even when he was the LW title holder....He seemed to somehow avoid guys like Castillo, Johnston,
Not hard to look good against guys who co-operate

Right o, the guy he's fighting is an Italian Tomato Can of the highest order... He's just not really someone who I know much about atall. Cheers for the info Daxx
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Most over-hyped fighter of the last 10 years, largely off video of winning one sparring session with an out of condition Floyd Mayweather.
He fought 3 decent opponents in his career imo, Sosa, Manfredy & Dorin & in all of those I felt the judges were a little favourable, although he probably did barely enough against Manfredy & Sosa. Dorin flat out beat him.
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
I think he's an asshole and I would LOVE to see him sparked out cold or just have the hell beaten out of him for an entire fight.
LEO DORIN BEAT HIM.....FACT!

No doubt,I'd add Sosa too.Thought he looked great exposing heavily hyped Pito Cardona at the time, but what goes around comes around?
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Was very boring to watch and way over hyped. Agreed that Dorin beat him. Like they say - if you get a draw in the other guys home town you probably won the fight.
Also can't say much for a guy who shoots his own pregnant girlfriend because she scratched his Hummer. As Cypress Hill put it so lovely - He can go eat a bowl of dicks ya'll!!

Yeah like everyone else said he has his best wins over once quality guys on the down or just plain old gifts..
Manfredy at the end of his career....Sosa had yet to peak and he was in Pittsburg when he eeked out a draw with Dorin......
Hell last year I think he fought Shad Howard...A fighter I handpicked to build up the resume of Wayland Willingham 5 years ago and Wayland was garbage......
But the way they allow footage of him to be available and through highlights of handpicked fights I certainly know he looks a hell of a lot better then what he is...:-\
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
I think that Paul showed a lot of promise in the early part of his career. He was a very talented boxer, but wasted it all with booze, drugs and a bad lifestyle.
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Dorin really beat him and it did made a mini scandal in Quebec, I recall very well. The thing is; the guy is very very talented, no questions about it. However, it seems like often he didn't train properly an was easily dragged off the path of duty by some more than questionable friends. What he does worth now, I am really not sure, inactive for so long, wasting golden years in jail or rehabilitation, we'll just see but I think that we'll never convincingly know how good or not he really was due to his misdemeanors outside the ring.
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Look Floyd... the perfect example of an undefeated record meaning sh*t. I thought Dorin beat him! I'm sure Whitaker is still working with him. Won't be long before someone catches up to him!!!

I was just going to say basically the same thing.
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Cheers for the opinions guys, I won't pursue downloading anymore of his fights. Ha.... It does seem as though it could have been more interesting without the stints inside. Guess thats one of those IF's......

Yeah because their 2 resumes are really comparable
Hell even Joe Calzaghes undefeated record is better than Spadafora's!
Re: What do people make of Paul Spadafora?
Didn't he have a life and death fight were he was knocked almost out (or knocked down) a bunch of time and got a Dempsey style long count? Was that the Sosa fight you're all talking about? Sorta like the Bute fight, dominated the entire fight and had a long count to finish the fight?
