winky wright wants out of goldenboy promotions?
as it goes goldenboy is not getting wright any fights. wright has said that top rank could get him the fights he wants is it true?
Re: winky wright wants out of goldenboy promotions?
Not sure what fights he wants or what he thinks he could get. His last fight he lost decisively to Paul Williams, then he was supposed to fight in Puerto Rico but it got cancelled because of poor ticket sales. If he can't sell a small venue in Puerto Rico, i doubt he will sell in the US. Maybe on a undercard, but i don't know.

Already? Love Wright but his window is closing...

i agree i dnt think he will get anymore big time fight unless he starts fighting on the undercards to build up. he also said he wants too go back to 154 were he was dominate and clean out the divison once again.
Re: winky wright wants out of goldenboy promotions?
I think he sees himself as too big to fight on under cards and keeping busy. If that is the case he should just retire. Why did he take so much time off.
Re: winky wright wants out of goldenboy promotions?
I think Winky altho a great fighter in his prime, he tends to blame ohers too much for not getting the money he wants. Its time he kept more active or just retired. Having massive layoffs then looking rusty aint gonna get him the big money showdowns.
Re: winky wright wants out of goldenboy promotions?
Always thought him a very underrated talent and finally broke out when well into prime. Now though fighting once in two years wont cut it...no matter who is to fault and he should consider himself fortunate, hes trying to hang onto relevance.

If Martinez stays at 160 and Williams goes back down to 147, Wright could do pretty well against the rest of the pack at 154.

Wright was great but he is now too old to get away with hitting and not get hit. All great defensive fighters, once they lose their speed, are destined to end up losing more than they win. Leonard, without his speed, got stopped by Hector Camacho for goodness sakes.
