What do you believe the forum posters here actually think when they say .....?

Here are some examples:

FYI .......... I'm more knowledgeable on the subject than you.

I challenge you to a signature bet .......... I'll just disappear for a while if I lose.

Can you post links? .......... Prove that you're not making this up.

I wish I could attend the fight .......... My spouse/mother did not allow me to go.

I gotta go .......... I have no time to argue with you.

Excellent thread you have there .......... I wish I have thought of that.

You're an idiot .......... You're an idiot.

Of course, this presumes you wanted a serious answer :D

The only one worth of much notice is, "Can you post links?..." but the portion following ".......... Prove that you're not making this up." is a bit aggressive.

When someone honestly wants the links (or other references) for proof, for clarification, for added knowledge (that might be found there), or merely to be able to testify later to others that they themselves have seen the evidence etc., then this is a perfectly valid request and should always be fulfilled if that is reasonably convenient -- it deserves a response if not convenient.

If the request is merely to stifle the discussion (don't see much of that here but it is fairly common on Politically oriented forums and newsgroups) it might be fulfilled but no real moral/ethical obligation exists requiring you to do so.

I am involved with RKBA issues, and it is absolutely amazing how many idiots will argue counter to facts, demand proof of the most obvious things, and then refuse to even read the links if you do provide them.

I meant this to be more of a humorous thread than a serious one.

The first sentence is what had been posted in this forum and the second is supposed to be what some might believe to be the actual thought behind it.

Amir Khan is chinny = he has a glass jaw and has nothing to do with race :rolleyes:

I'll agree to disagree = cba to post in this thread anymore

i will not reply to this thread again = it will prob be the only thread i will be reading on the board.

alt accounts after a ban and pretending to be from a different country = i respect this forum and really don't want to get busted again because all the other boxing forums out there suck ;D
