Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
Comments Thread For: Allan Green: "Andre Dirrell Put On A Bit Of An Act" - Boxing Forum
Allan Green is the replacement of Jermaine Taylor in the continuation of the super 6 tourney. He also sat ringside and saw the fight.
He thought Dirrell acted a little bit. And said that Abraham was coming on strong late. He also thought it was kind of strange that Dirrell seemed alright for a moment and then started shaking. He also said that if Dirrel was really hurt bad he would be in the hospital for days and wouldn't just get up and start walking around. He said that Dirrell got hit harder in earlier rounds than that blow when he was down and it didn't bother him, so why this one?
BTW, he was rooting for Dirrell to win when interviewed earlier, and the guy is an American not an German or Armenian. Just his opinion.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
i actually thought the post fight interview acting was a hell of a lot worse than the actual knockout
crying like a bitch claiming he wanted the fight to go on is not what someone does if they have genuinely just been clocked.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
Edison Miranda told Allan Green to stfu immediately after this interview :)

But Green is positioning himself to say he is tougher than Dirrell. Sure Andre may have been hit harder earlier, he was also prepared for those blows as opposed to being in a defenseless position unaware. Let's see him talk the same smack after Abraham clobbers him while he's looking at his shoes.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
I'm still of the view that the knockout was genuine, but I really think that Dirrell might have a screw loose. I started a thread before the Froch fight asking if he was a nutter and then we had the shenanigans from this fight too. I don't know, Dirrell seems to be an odd one. What will he do prior to, during or after his next fight? You know he will potshot and dance about a bit which is a bit boring, but it's the other weird stuff he is likely to do that makes me curious.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
Kinda like Mora saying, Berto should have fought after all his family died.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
And no I don't think he could have gone on. He wasn't all there and Abraham would have gone for broke. The punch was illegal and that was that.

i agree with green tho. he got hit harder than that and it was fine. after he got floored by abraham i think he got hurt and was trying to find a way out.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
I do think Dirrell was acting but I also know what the rules state. And there is no way to go around the rules. Abraham clearly fouled Dirrell and the DQ is inarguable. By the way, I do understand Dirrell not wanting to continue. It was not a glancing blow. He was hurt. And this may have lead to an easier KO. You can't unring a bell. The damage from the foul was done. This may have ended like Tua/Rahman 1.

You do realize that punches affect you differently if you've got your legs underneath you than if you basically prone on the floor?? What am I saying, you clearly don't.
Anyway Green's opinon kind of gets discredited when he says 'I really didn't see some of it'. I suspect he was asked a question and didn't really know what to say. He says that he also thinks in no way was Dirrell faking the effects of the punch.
Also in that Lou DiBella says he believes that the reaction was genuine and is scathing about Abraham and Sauerland. Some of you guys should really click on the link.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
....this coming from the guy who was outboxed by miranda. Shut the eff up. Direll could have done tons of things but who cares. Once that punch was thrown the fight was over. One minute adamek is a freaking ko king with one punch power that could ko a damn bull. Now all of the sudden after getting hit straight in the face while not looking and on his knees he could have continued. Please...i actually like some things about green he's heavy handed and when he's not looking down at his own feet boxes pretty decent at times, but this statement is just garbage. Or wait how bout next time direll ko's some guy in a great and exciting fight run to the ref and say hold on the fans want more so let me revive the guy give him and hour to rest then we'll continue the fight. The fight was over.....done deal. And it had absolutly nothing to do with direll, abraham has no one to blame but himself. First for bringing nothing new to the table and getting whoooped for most of the fight and two for throwing that punk ass punch
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
Allan Green is a cocky asshole. I live 50 miles from the guy and have watched him come up through the ranks most of his career. He should have kept his mouth shut. He has no idea what that's like or what was in Dirrels head. Dirrel was robbed of a knock down earlier and was clearly dominant in that fight. and yes, how you take a punch standing up with balance and sitting there on your knees are 2 VERY different worlds. Greens gonna get his ass kicked in this tournament anyway. Lets see what he has to say when someone LEGITIMATELY plants him on his ass in this thing.
Re: Allan Green: Dirrell could have continued
I would love to see Green get sucker punched in the mouth while he's down and see how responds. Its easy to say "he got hit harder earlier in the fight" when you're not the one taking the punches. I for one know that Dirrell was seriously wounded by that punch, I recognize those symptoms any where, its happend to me before, he was confused and he did not even know he had won the fight even after they anounced the decision. Those are the symptoms of a nasty cuncusion.
