How will Glen Johnson be remembered?
This is the best fighter with 13 losses we will see this era.....He has lost a lot of hometown decisions....Johnson has always been willing to fight anyone and is not a walkover for anyone...His title win came late and he really made some noise when he KO'd Jones the way he did....
In 20 years will he be talked about as the guy champions always had to look out for or be one of those fighters you forget about like he has been during much of his career....
Also is it me or does Johnson have one of the best chins in the sport...He has 1 KO loss 13 years ago by Hopkins
Hell I wish he would get a rematch with Hopkins..after the other night with Bernard's performance I see a loss at the hands of Johnson

Was he even knocked down in that fight? I thought it was stopped on cuts. I think a fight with B-Hop has to happen now.

I hope Glenn still has some more good moments left in his career. He is unbelievable fighter for his age, and does not cherry pick opponents just takes on the best. Hope he has saved his money and is investing the money because he has had a hard career and earned his pay.

I have nothing but good things to say about this guy... Great fighter and stands for everything right about boxing..

He is far better than his record suggests. I also agree that he beats up this version of Hopkins. Since Jones he has really pushed himself, but it's a shame he was just so old before he really got that recognition.

A very tough customer who fought anywhere against the bests and which achievements have been overshadowed by his humble personality and who lost a few times when he should have won.

He wasn't down but he was taking a battering....Ref stopped it...Johnson never stopped trying but he was swinging missing etc......
Glad to know there are others guys out there who respect the career of Johnson like I do...Thanks for the replies all

I think he will be remembered the same way people remember Marlon Starling.
As a really good fighter who gave the best guys all they could handle but had some losses on his record.
Johnson is one of the hardest working and nicest guys in boxing. You gotta love him. He took the high road to becoming a world champion.

IMO he'll be remembered similarly to Dwight Muhammad Qawi, two gritty fighters who although not the most gifted fighters, were as tough as they come and gave the best of their time hell, also two fighters who were a lot better than their records would indicate, both HOF's no doubt

I Glen summed it up himself when (I believe after the Jones fight) he said, "I'm not the best. I'm just the guy who's willing to fight the best." Of course, a lot of boxers might claim to be willing to fight the best, and they might even mean it. The difference is that Glen Johnson has been able to consistently perform at a high enough level to put him self in position to fight the best.
I kind of think he is similar to Larry Bird in the NBA. Bird had natural talent, but wasn't the most gifted athlete in the NBA. He achieved his greatness through an unparalleled commitment to practicing his craft. Glen is very similar, and is always the consummate professional.

A Hall of Famer as far as I'm concerned. Probably won't be 1st ballot, but he should definitely get there. Although I'm always dubious about how Canastota works these things out when they let Barry McGuigan in there, but have yet to induct Genaro Hernandez or Lupe Pintor. But hopefully Johnson will get in there, he deserves it.

Johnson is my number 3 favorite fighter after Jhonny Gonzalez and Hozumi Hasegawa.
I don't know how anyone could have anything except for extreme respect for him. Calzaghe wouldn't get in the ring with him, he fought everyone he could. He was the underdog in all his big fights and still had more "Rocky" moments than any other fighter I can think of in the modern era. I mean he has all the elements that you could want in a fight
1. He'll fight anyone.
2. He'll always be there to fight, not just for a check.
3. He's a nice guy, gives honest assessments of his performances.
4. He never stops pressing, he never stops trying to fight the best.
I mean what more could you want out of a pro? He defines the term "professional boxer" to me.

I can make a compromise to competitor because I think that the guy was genuinely one ;)
