Ayala will not be walk-over. He lasted into the 12th round with Abraham and is a crafty kind of fighter with solid whiskers. If David can wax him, it will mean a lot. I plan to be at ringside for this one.
It's not much of a step up. But it is a step up. Ayala is not a bum. He's not a contender either. He's mediocre. He's a good mover and he's got heart. But he can't punch. I'm expecting Lemieux to blast him out or beat on him all night. A loss or even a close fight with Ayala will tell me he's nothing but a John Duddy type fighter.

What VD said. Ayala only lasted till the 12th with Abraham because Arthur seemed to be at his lethargic worst that night and took forever to actually track him down. If Ayala can make Lajuan Simon look like a prime James Toney, he's gonna make Lemieux look like the Canadian answer to Carlos Monzon. If Lemieux doesn't stop him or take a very one-sided UD, people will have to slow that hype train right down.Quote:

I believe in his potential from what I see but I agree with Jaz and VD, we'll see soon if I've been victim of the hype or if the guy has tons to display. Lemieux will beat Ayala. No one in the top 10 wants to face Lemieux unless they have to, it just dont work the risk . They know what they are doing with him . Will see in the next 18 months how good he really his. He might not be the next p4p, but he's dangerous whit both hands and is power wont go away even if he loose a few fights down the road.

Its a slight step up & as others have said based on how he performs we'll know more. A dominant victory & he's ready for another step up, a close difficult fight & he better stay in there with 3rd tier types!
Whenever I see a record like that, I think Tyrone Brunson. The guy who took literally not a single step up at all from his pro debut then when expectations were heaped upon them, the steps became to large and he failed. He had talent obviously but just horrible managing and the damage might already be done.
I hope it's not the same with Lemieux. Obviously he's much younger but that doesn't matter much. If he keeps going this rate he's going to be 60-0 at 24 years old with his best wins being over Matt Vanda and John Duddy lol.
Really thoough, this is a good step up but they need to at least give him some sort of challenge and start actually developing him into a complete fighter rather then just a tv ko attraction.
The guy's 21 years old, I think they make a superb progression with him without going too fast to risk to burn him. Anber and GYM are talking to get him a championship title match around end of 2011, I think it makes perfect sense, he would be then 23 and having climbed the rungs in a strategic and logical way.Quote:

They better cram in a hurry because they could have gotten serious opposition and maybe 5 less fights and actually set him up for success. Deliberately padding a guy's record is never a good idea and it's not going to make him a better fighter.
