Out of work? Need some ideas?
Ok, I was out of work last year for a while due to redundancy. I got fucked off and all the rest of it, managed to get another job building internet servers to order, that went tits up after Vodafone bailed out when someone from my place chopped a live cable while ripping out an old install. The loss of that contract had 6 of us out the door.
So I signed on (£128 every 2 weeks if I remember right) something I swore I would never do. That pays for my loans and my phone bill which is £127+£26+£49 a month.
So this is the last month (one of the best so far) of my money makings on ebay.
I know my Hi-Fi, been into it from a young age. My first stereo was over £1200 which I bought when I was 17, I decided get my arse on ebay and try find some bargains to sell on.
Bits and pieces all made a few quid but the last month I have made the following profits.
1 pair of KEF tweeters (T27 model) bought for £29 I sold for £132 to some guy in Italy.
Bought a BOSE WAVE radio for £170 without a remote, got a remote for £10 and sold for £450 to some woman needing it for a party the next day.
Pair of vintage Rogers Jr 149's, matched pair £190 bought - sold for £400 to a French dude.
Bought a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 601 S3's for 150 quid with stands -Sold the stands for £40 and sold the speakers in parts(tweeters, drivers, cabinets, crossovers) for a total of £320
A pair of Bowers & Wilkins DM 602 S2's for £180 - sold for £310
Marantz Arch £135 with no remote - Sold without remote (too hard to get) for £558
That's £864 spent
£2,200 made minus the 864 spent equals £1,336 profit.
I'm quite chuffed with myself. Fuck working!
I think people who sit on their arse doing fuck all need a slap.
Re: Out of work? Need some ideas?
Damn that's impressive dude, where were you buying, from eBay also?
If you can do that month in month out I agree don't go back to working for somebody just do that yourself.
Sounds like you have a good eye for a bargain, maybe over time you can branch into other areas like antiques.
Fun occupation too I imagine, must be rewarding to buy something for peanuts, polish it up and then sell it on for large cash!

Improvise and adapt when it pours.Keep at it, sounds as if you've found your nitch and are making it work to your advantage.Always good to have options!!
Re: Out of work? Need some ideas?
I actually remember a thread you put up last year when out of work man. Sucks that it came round again. Sounds like you may have some cheeky talent for makin sales over ebay. If you like it and your good at it, time to get better. Maybe hit some car boots man or antique gigs or somethin like that. Not sure, just throwing around ideas like the creative ass that I'm supposed to be at work.
Re: Out of work? Need some ideas?
yeah stick with ebay...
scouce the junk shops and boot sales for crap to sell you will make far more than any job pays and if you run out of stuff to sell try dropshipping a line on ebay that you know about ;)
failing that do a ciggarette run if your far enough down south ;D
get a maket stall and sell something seasonal.
if your a good talker/salesguy get a comission job selling kitchens... where theres blame theres a claim.... credit cards etc in shopping centers.
get yourself to the beach and flypitch cheap sunglasse/ or the town centers flypitching cigarette lighter / and a great one umbrellas as it always fucken rains.
join a shitload of social network sites and pretend your a sexy girl promoting dating affiliate links to the cunt hunger pervert ;D
dress scruffy get an scruffy dog cut most of its hair off in patches and beg or busk :-X
sell space...get a digi camera then you go to a local takeaway and offer to do there menus for free... then you read the local papers and see who is advertising say you see a taxi firm add or plumber etc you phone them guys up and say hey do you want to buy an advert on my menu... then just get the menus printed up at a printers and get the leaflet company to diliver them..... work your prices out right and you could get some big bucks.
hope this helps :)
